The effectiveness of ozone (O3) in eliminating various types microorganisms, as well oxidizing a wide range contaminants present wastewater, and drinking water, is extensively documented the literature, along with required concentrations, contact times (Ct values), reaction mechanisms for different pollutants, overall efficiency. This article presents comprehensive review on use aqueous O3 treatment disinfection, specifically low-contaminant domestic greywater (LGW), providing information its integration into design small-scale systems. Additionally, to complement theoretical findings, experimental tests were conducted using portable generator an operational facility treating (GW) from handwashing sinks. results confirmed that concentration increases over time but decreases volume water be treated increases. Water analysis showed significant reductions BOD5, turbidity, total suspended solids after treatment. Furthermore, demonstrated presence microorganisms LGW minimal, case fecal coliforms, ensuring 1 Log disinfection level this type system. O3, sole system, oxidation potential nearly twice chlorine, proved highly effective systems, promoting sustainable practices, resource conservation, environmental protection, public health.

Water scarcity and the consequent increase of freshwater prices are a cause for concern in regions where shale gas is being extracted via hydraulic fracturing. Wastewater treatment methods aimed at reuse/recycle fracking wastewater can help reduce water stress process. Accordingly, this study assessed catalytic performance life cycle environmental impacts cerium-based mixed oxide catalysts wet oxidation (CWO) organic contaminants, order to investigate their potential as treatment.
