Abstract The rise of hybrid-conglomerate platforms like Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta (GAMAM) has led to significant market power concentration negative competition implications, right down calls for their potential breakups. To expand dominance, these leverage extensive ecosystems with strategic control over resources customer relationships, often at the expense others. We conduct a qualitative meta-analysis 87 empirical platform-governance problem cases from regulatory perspective. Using decomposition approach, we develop taxonomy problems induced by platform governance identify four standard types (i.e., growth, consolidation, extension, protect capture), representing lifecycle phases Each type describes owner’s strategy, consequent problems, remedies. Our findings show how lack regulation digital platforms’ design contributed growing that effective intervention requires making more open neutral. Moreover, emphasize need shifts burden proof compliance regulators owners.

Large Language Models for Market Research: A Data-augmentation Approach DOI

Large Language Models (LLMs) have transformed artificial intelligence by excelling in complex natural language processing tasks. Their ability to generate human-like text has opened new possibilities for market research, particularly conjoint analysis, where understanding consumer preferences is essential but often resource-intensive. Traditional survey-based methods face limitations scalability and cost, making LLMgenerated data a promising alternative. However, while LLMs the potential simulate real behavior, recent studies highlight significant gap between LLM-generated human data, with biases introduced when substituting two. In this paper, we address proposing novel statistical augmentation approach that efficiently integrates analysis. Our method leverages transfer learning principles debias using small amount of data. This results statistically robust estimators consistent asymptotically normal properties, contrast naive approaches simply substitute which can exacerbate bias. We validate our framework through an empirical study on COVID-19 vaccine preferences, demonstrating its superior reduce estimation error save costs 32.7% 83.8%. contrast, fail due inherent compared Another sports car choices validates robustness results. findings suggest not direct responses, it serve as valuable complement used within framework.

Digital transformation (DT) has become an important theme in information systems (IS) and adjacent fields (Carroll et al. 2023; Hanelt 2021; Kraus Piccoli, Grover, Rodriguez 2024; Schallmo Van Veldhoven Vanthienen 2022; Verhoef Vial 2019). This is of course unsurprising given the widespread interest how digital technologies occasion change markets, societies at large, political landscape (Bareikytė Cowburn Davidson Faik, Barrett, Oborn 2020; Majchrzak, Markus, Wareham 2016; Tana, Breidbach, Burton-Jones 2023). Coming to terms with these changes, their outcomes, unintended consequences is, therefore, both timely.
