Integrated crop and cargo war risk insurance: application to Ukraine

Abstract Conflicts and wars can significantly disrupt global agricultural supply chains, with severe impacts on food security worldwide. War risk insurance, the other hand, mitigate farmers' losses. In this paper, we use theory of variational inequalities to construct a new multicommodity international trade network equilibrium model exchange rates general transportation networks joining markets demand under different wartime scenarios. The incorporates capacities production transportation, as well potential commodity losses in transportation. We then propose formulae for integrated crop cargo war insurance premiums that are market specific incorporate them into model, along government subsidies premiums. A series numerical examples, both illustrative algorithmically solved, focusing ongoing Ukraine, reveal critical role support sustaining flows prices protecting revenue farmers.
