Introduction Tourism has an important influence on shaping the development trajectory of communities, particularly in developing countries. Given its economic significance and social implications, tourism constitutes integral part intervention government other agencies. The study looks at impact homestay rural mountain communities vis-à-vis livelihoods environmental sustainability, with a focus how benefits are distributed or shared among different socio-economic groups. Methods is based interpretivist paradigm. Data were gathered in-depth interviews group discussions (FGD) owners, helpers, nature guides, local community members, public officials. A total fifteen locally owned surveyed, including thirty personal one FGD. Thematic analysis was utilized to analyze data. This paper investigates the illegal activities that may negatively impact environment in Croatia’s protected areas, particularly those associated with tourism. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) sensitivity analysis are used to identify distinct high-risk specific different park types. The development of sustainable ecotourism on Gili Iyang Island, known for its high oxygen levels and unique local culture, requires collaboration among diverse stakeholders through effective governance networks. This study investigates the roles contributions key stakeholders—including Sumenep District Tourism, Culture, Youth, Sports Office (Dinas Pariwisata, Kebudayaan, Pemuda, dan Olahraga Kabupaten or Disparbudpora), Andang Taruna Tourism Awareness Group (Kelompok Sadar Wisata Pokdarwis), village governments, communities—in developing Indonesia. Using a qualitative case approach, data were collected in-depth interviews, observations, document analysis. Findings show that networks are crucial in enhancing community empowerment, building capacity, improving infrastructure to support ecotourism. Nevertheless, challenges remain, including limited resources, conflicts between villages, minimal private-sector engagement. Strengthening Pokdarwis’ managerial fostering inter-community synergies, attracting private sector involvement identified as essential strategies ensure research contributes broader literature collaborative remote island ecotourism, offering practical insights policymakers aiming create resilient, community-driven tourism initiatives can be adapted similar settings.
