SUMMARY
Non‐volatile
metabolites
constitute
the
bulk
of
plant
biomass.
From
perspective
plant–insect
interactions,
these
structurally
diverse
compounds
include
nutritious
core
and
defensive
specialized
metabolites.
In
this
review,
we
synthesize
current
literature
on
multiple
scales
interactions
mediated
by
non‐volatile

molecular
level,
functional
genetics
studies
have
revealed
a
large
collection

targeting

insect
species
agricultural
pests.
By
contrast,

molecules

feed
