Mangrove loss has reduced its carbon (C) sink function and ecosystem services. To effectively allocate climate finance for mangrove restoration, a thorough assessment of restoration potential is necessary. Here we show net service value (ESV) 29.2 billion USD ($) due to land changes in mangroves from 1996 2019. The estimated ESV 2019 amounts $894 yr-1, mainly provided by regulating provisioning services (57.4% 19.7%). Over the next two decades, project that would necessitate an investment $40.0-52.1 billion, yielding gains $231-725 billion. global benefit-cost ratio (BCR) ranges 6.35 15.0, demonstrating such projects are highly cost-effective. Furthermore, 19.4 Tg C can be sequestrated soils based on 20-year program, which generate $68.6-$236 million via blue trading. Our findings highlight significant opportunities mitigate change support livelihoods.

Abstract Mangrove forest restoration can improve services and functions across associated coastal ecosystems. However, the effectiveness of mangrove efforts is highly dependent on knowing locations habitat requirements target species within landscape interest. Habitat suitability models are powerful tools that identify suitable environmental conditions reduce risk poor site selection. When coupled with information potential future climate conditions, land‐use conflicts, co‐benefits (e.g., biodiversity), these be used to prioritize areas meet multiple stakeholder objectives help implement a broader ecosystem‐based approach restoration. In this study, we machine learning assess present forests Arabian Gulf. We then incorporated marine data from Qatar for in country where mangroves constitute only type forest. All tested (artificial neural networks, boosted regression trees, random forest, Maxent, Maxnet) showed high predictive performance, but percentage contributions each predictor differed models. Important predictors included elevation, slope, distance coastline, temperature, precipitation. While most predicted reduction region, there were sites located currently protected areas. identified several impact (i.e., suitability, far urban areas, closest live coral areas) northwest side Qatar. These results demonstrate modeling paired restrictions, proximity infrastructure, other ecosystems integrate an guide

Concern for the future requires local steward-led cooperation between natural and social scientists decision-makers to develop informed policy-relevant nature-based mitigation solutions, including blue carbon (BC), which can help secure future. Salt marshes, kelp forests, seagrass meadows (and a lesser extent mangroves) are significant BC ecosystems in temperate areas. We discuss concept of stocks scientific approaches building considering variability conditions co-benefits improve climate change adaptation mechanisms. The study examines (1) methods assess potential impact disturbances, while (2) relevant policy based on socio-economic assessments impacted communities. highlight economic rebuilding using financial tools such as bonds, development plans, cost-benefit analyses, cross-ecosystem restoration projects, AI blockchain, accounts coastal ecosystems, emphasizing that cutting emissions is more important than (re)building stocks.

ABSTRACT Mangroves play a vital role in coastal ecosystems, providing numerous ecosystem functions and services as well supporting high levels of biodiversity. Using bioacoustic approach, we assessed the influence mangrove habitat variables on birds four sites Peninsular Malaysia. We set up 20 audio recorders across Telok Gong, Kapar Tambahan, Banjar Utara Forest Reserves, Kuala Selangor Nature Park. The operated for 30 min every hour over period 24 h seven consecutive days. characteristics at each site by establishing one m × quadrat recording points. Generalized linear mixed models indicated that percentage canopy cover, average tree height, forest age, number saplings, size, ground cover positively influenced bird richness. Our findings highlight importance maintaining these features to support higher species richness mangroves. This study demonstrated possible use bioacoustics assess restoration recovery progress via bioindicators. Abstract Malay is available with online material.
