Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers are main causes of poor health, with most remaining difficult to treat effectively. Identifying new targets for treatment is crucial improving the efficacy tumour therapies and enhancing patient quality life. Anoctamin-1 (ANO1), a component calcium-activated chloride channels (CaCCs), expressed widely in various cell types, including epithelial cells, vascular smooth muscle influences proliferation migration. Nonetheless, exact pathways through which ANO1 contributes malignant transformation immune responses remain elusive. This review comprehensively examines regulatory functions potential therapeutic applications GI cancers. The goal this work offer perspectives further study on role gastrointestinal support improvements strategies cancer diagnosis targeting ANO1.
