ABSTRACT Objective To assess the consumer food environment and its associations with socioeconomic factors in a midsize Brazilian city. Methods An ecological study that assessed through audits stratified proportional sample of stores. The ESAO-S ESAO-R instruments were used. Access to healthy was using Healthy Food Store Index Meal Restaurant Index. Socioeconomic demographic characteristics Health Vulnerability obtained from 2010 Demographic Census. Statistical analyses performed IBM®SPSSNo-Break®No-Break software. Result A total 280 stores assessed. Only 47.1% for home consumption had fruits, vegetables, or legumes. High availability ultra-processed identified, such as sugar-sweetened beverages (85.0%) chocolate sandwich cookies (77.8%). prices some unprocessed foods snacks different according characteristics. In immediate consumption, low options and, most them, natural juices higher than (87.1%). mean score 5.1 (SD=3.6), 2.4 (SD=1.2). In Mexico, 75% of the population are affected by overweight or obesity, and availability affordability high-calorie-dense foods beverages high. This study tested association between retail food environment index (RFEI), dietary patterns, body mass (BMI), socioeconomic position (SEP) in Mexico. Cross-sectional diet, health, sociodemographic population-based secondary data analyses were conducted. Associations BMI, SEP using multilevel linear regression, including interactions with SEP, gender, age. In the past five decades, global food systems have undergone a notable transition, moving from predominantly rural settings to increasingly urban and industrialized environments, largely driven by processes of globalization supply chain integration. However, this evolution has not adequately addressed equitable access nutritious diets resulting in adverse health outcomes. This study delves into spatial non-spatial barriers that impede adoption healthy Noreste Mexico, particularly focusing on challenges associated with accessing cultivating plant-based foods. Through an examination suitable areas for agriculture exploration socio-cultural factors influencing diets, research focuses interventions aimed at promoting healthier more sustainable eating practices Monterrey. The findings reveal significant disparities across Monterrey metropolitan area, central zones exhibiting superior fresh foods compared suburban peripheral regions. inequality disproportionately affects marginalized characterized higher poverty rates, exacerbating issues insecurity. Tooth decay affects 40% to 90% of children in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), contributing adverse consequences, including oral pain, difficulty focusing school, lifelong dental problems, overall lower quality life. Few studies have examined the relationship between pocket money given children, their purchase sugary snacks drinks with that money, risk for tooth decay. This secondary cross-sectional analysis utilized data which were collected 2014 as part an health promotion program rural El Salvador. A convenience sample 279 mothers who participated recruited complete interview trained community workers, received a examination from licensed Salvadoran U.S. dentists. Only teeth (primary, mixed, or permanent dentition) included this analysis; such, ranged age 6 months through 14 years. Abstract Considering the scientific evidence regarding harmful effects on health from consuming ultra-processed foods, regulation food environments has been prioritized as a way of promoting adequate and healthy eating. In this context, Bill 4198/2021 was proposed in Legislative assembly Rio de Janeiro, to ban sale foods schools state. second voting session proposition conservative rhetoric widely used by opposing congressmen. essay, these positions were classified, finding common points between them, considering analysis legislative process. making categorization, it possible identify three argumentative bases that explored: defense freedom trade; right “family autonomy,” primacy family children’s education; individual responsibility for obesity. Resumo Diante das evidências científicas acerca dos malefícios à saúde do consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados, a regulação ambientes alimentares vem sendo priorizada como forma promover uma alimentação adequada e saudável. Nesse contexto, foi proposto o Projeto Lei 4198/2021 na Assembleia Legislativa Rio Janeiro, para proibir comércio ultraprocessados nas escolas estado. Na segunda sessão em plenário da proposição, houve ampla utilização retóricas conservadoras pelos deputados contrários. Neste presente ensaio foram classificados esses posicionamentos, encontrando-se pontos comuns entre eles, luz análise tramitação legislativa. Ao realizar essa categorização, possível identificar três bases argumentativas exploradas: defesa liberdade comércio; direito “pátria família”, primazia família educação infantojuvenil; responsabilização individual obesidade. Tais analisadas conjunto com suas contraposições, presentes conclusões literatura especializada. Para além pluralidade ideias debate legislativo, discussão PL 4198/21 permeada pela reprodução desinformação violência. Desse modo, escrutínio utilizadas compreensão contexto dessa são contribuições aqui propostas consolidação repertório crianças adolescentes.
