Bisphenols have drawn increasing attention from regulatory agencies and scientific communities due to their widespread occurrences, distribution endocrine disrupting effects, severe toxicity. As one of the bisphenol A (BPA) substitutes, S (BPS) is most frequently detected in environment. Although numerous studies shown its occurrence, distribution, toxicity certain aquatic species, investigation on BPS removal aqueous environments lacking. Thus, this review, we summarize state-of-art about approaches including biodegradation, sorption, advanced oxidation processes. Particular has been paid sorption mechanisms, active species for corresponding degradation pathways.
