The diversity of fruits and frugivorous species is especially high in tropical regions where frugivory seed dispersal interactions are particularly critical for the structure functioning terrestrial communities. However, increasing urbanization areas has caused profound landscape changes, affecting associated ecosystems functions. Here, we present an overview studies on urban areas, discussing emergent patterns processes underlying plant-frugivore as well major research gaps. Our review highlights uneven geographical distribution studies, which more frequent Neotropics comparison to Indomalayan Afrotropical regions. We found that areas: (i) most frequently studied group flying frugivores (birds bats), (ii) Myrtaceae, Moraceae, Arecaceae reported consumed by frugivores, (iii) introduced plants often frugivores’ diets, become common with urbanization, (iv) niche breadths vary seasonality fruit availability, (v) a higher (or near) habitats preserve natural characteristics, such proportion green areas. Urban expansion is a pervasive driver of biodiversity loss. To understand the effects urbanization on diversity, we investigated response bird taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity to urban green spaces’ characteristics in thirty-one spaces Mexico City. Ensuring connectivity in the countryside and cities is a key element of nature protection, allowing genetic fluxes between populations fragmented ecosystems. Anthropogenic habitat modification is a leading contributor to biodiversity change, but it unclear what factors, including scale, influence the magnitude of change. Changes in species richness and its scaling relationship across an anthropogenic gradient can be influenced by changes total number individuals each sample, abundance distribution, and/or spatial arrangement conspecific individuals. Introduction Urbanization, characterized by the rapid expansion of human settlements and development, greatly impacts biodiversity, especially where developments are not guided proper environmental consideration. Methods We used data collected through citizen science projects under African Bird Atlas Project, based on standardized protocols to gather bird occurrence data. Species’ ecological traits, related foraging behavior, habitat speciality, body mass, were analyzed assess functional richness diversity (FD) represented Rao’s quadratic entropy. Geospatial data, including Global Human Settlement Layer Modification Index (HMI), along with probability urban up 2030, integrated examine impact urbanization using Bayesian models. Results Our findings reveal a marked decline in taxonomic richness, diversity, associated increasing modification, similar pattern observed gradient from mostly uninhabited areas cities. However, FD increased The relationship between HMI was nonlinear, showing an initial negative trend that became positive as increased. This suggests transition communities, generalist species thrive environments, potentially replacing specialized leading redundancy. Increased urbanization leads to the modification of animal behavior, including start dawn chorus in birds. The beginning has been studied relation level urban noise and nocturnal artificial light oscine birds, with few studies suboscines.
