Objective We investigated the effects of combined balance and strength training on measures muscle in older women with a history falls. Methods Twenty-seven aged 70.4 ± 4.1 years (age range: 65 to 75 years) were randomly allocated either an intervention (IG, n = 12) or active control (CG, 15) group. The IG completed 8 weeks program three sessions per week including visual biofeedback using force plates. CG received physical therapy gait at rehabilitation center. Training volumes similar between groups. Pre post training, tests applied for assessment (weight-bearing squat [WBS] by measuring percentage body mass borne each leg different knee flexions [0°, 30°, 60°, 90°], sit-to-stand test [STS]), balance. Balance used modified clinical sensory interaction (mCTSIB) eyes closed (EC) opened (EO), stable (firm) unstable (foam) surfaces as well spatial parameters such step width length (cm) walking speed (cm/s). Results Significant group × time interactions found degrees flexion during WBS (0.0001 < p 0.013, 0.441 d 0.762). Post hoc revealed significant pre-to-post improvements both legs all 0.002, 0.697 1.875) compared CG. firm EO, foam EC, EC (0.006 0.029; 0.302 0.518). showed oscillations 0.004, 0.753 2.097) This study indicates that improved distribution weight conditions (0°, 90°) also decreased sway oscillation surface closed, (with closed) IG. Conclusion higher positive seen standing tests, dynamic suggests exercises lateral, forward, backward static greater extent women.

In recent years, next to conventional rehabilitation’s techniques, new technologies have been applied in stroke rehabilitation. this context, fully immersive virtual reality (FIVR) has showed interesting results thanks the level of immersion subject illusional world, with feeling being a real part environment. This study aims investigate efficacy FIVR PubMed, Web Science and Scopus were screened up November 2022 identify eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Out 4623, we included 12 RCTs involving post-acute chronic survivors, total 350 patients (234 men 115 women; mean age 58.36 years). High heterogeneity outcomes considered, that provides additional benefits, comparison standard particular, an improvement upper limb dexterity, gait performance dynamic balance, influencing patient independence. Therefore, represents adaptable, multi-faceted rehabilitation tool can be considered post-stroke rehabilitation, improving compliance treatment increasing functioning quality life survivors.

Abstract Data continue to accumulate indicating that many systematic reviews are methodologically flawed, biased, redundant, or uninformative. Some improvements have occurred in recent years based on empirical methods research and standardization of appraisal tools; however, authors do not routinely consistently apply these updated methods. In addition, guideline developers, peer reviewers, journal editors often disregard current methodological standards. Although extensively acknowledged explored the literature, most clinicians seem unaware issues may automatically accept evidence syntheses (and clinical practice guidelines their conclusions) as trustworthy. Neurological disorders are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Can virtual reality (VR) based intervention, novel technology-driven change paradigm in rehabilitation, reduce impairments, activity limitations, participation restrictions? This question is directly addressed here for the first time using an umbrella review that assessed effectiveness quality evidence VR interventions physical cognitive rehabilitation patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury cerebral palsy, identified factors can enhance outcomes safety concerns. Forty-one meta-analyses were included. The data synthesis found mostly low- or very low-quality supports interventions. Only limited number comparisons rated as having moderate high evidence, but overall, results highlight potential benefits improving ambulation function children mobility, balance, upper limb function, body structure/function people acquired injury. Customization systems one important factor linked improved outcomes. Most studies do not address concerns, only nine reviews reported adverse effects. provide critical recommendations design implementation future programs, trials systematic reviews, including need randomized controlled to test principles mechanisms, primary meta-analyses, order formulate evidence-based guidelines designing VR-based

Stroke survivors show greater postural oscillations and altered muscular activation compared to healthy control. This results in difficulties walking standing, an increased risk of falls. A proper control the trunk is related a stable walk lower falling risk; this extent, rehabilitative protocols are currently working on core stability. The main objective work was evaluate effectiveness balance training performed with hunova, new robotic device designed for evaluation stability, improving recovery chronic stroke patients traditional physical therapy program. Thirty patients, randomly divided two groups, either underwent protocol, or robot-based Each patient assessed before after rehabilitation at three-months follow-up clinical exercises focused static dynamic balance, stability Results from scales showed improvement both groups Robot-based indices analysis indicated that experimental group improvements proprioceptive control, reactive unstable conditions, group, showing improved reduced compensatory strategies end training. Moreover, had retention obtained three months follow up. These support idea hunova promising tool rehabilitation.

Conventional flexible pressure sensors are not suitable for high-pressure applications due to their low saturation pressure. In this study, an ultra-wide range sensor is designed based on the optimized microstructure of polyimide/carbon nanotubes (PI/CNT) nanocomposite film. The sensing expanded by adopting polyimide (PI) with a high elastic modulus as matrix material and its sensitivity improved through functional film tip-flattened microdome arrays. As result, can measure wide (≈ 0-3000 kPa) possesses ≈ 5.66 × 10-3 -0.23 kPa-1 reliability durability up 1000 cycles. proposed integrated into hand foot monitoring systems workout monitoring. representative values distribution in hands feet during powerlifting acquired analyzed Pearson's correlation coefficient (PCC). results suggest that provide useful real-time information healthcare sports performance

Summary High‐quality systematic reviews (SR) and meta‐analyses (MA) are considered to be reliable sources of information. This study aims assess the quality studies published as SR or MA in field bariatrics 2016 2017. We identified by searching electronic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews). Eligible were those SR/MA title/abstract, which aimed any outcome patients with morbid obesity undergoing scheduled undergo bariatric surgery. Two authors independently reviewed all titles abstracts, assessed full texts potentially eligible studies, included studies. Any discrepancies resolved third reviewer. evaluated risk bias each using AMSTAR 2 checklist ROBIS tool, respectively. Seventy‐eight 4236 references met inclusion criteria for their quality/risk bias. The methodological 99% papers was classified “critically low.” A total 6% at low bias, 78% being high 2017 is highly unsatisfactory.

BACKGROUND:Tai Chi is an ancient form of physical activity that has been shown to improve cardiovascular function, but date there had no comprehensive systematic review on the effect Tai exercise balance function patients with stroke. This study evaluated in stroke patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS:PubMed, Cochrane library, and China National Knowledge Information databases Wan Fang medical network were searched collect articles. The random-effects model was used assess RESULTS:Six studies chosen perform meta-analysis according inclusion exclusion criteria. There significant improvements Berg Balance Scale score (MD=4.823, 95% CI: 2.138–7.508), standing fall rates (RR=0.300, 95%CI: 0.120–0.770), functional reach test dynamic gait index intervention group compared control group. However, short performance battery for (SPBB) showed did not significantly ability (MD=0.293, –0.099~0.685). CONCLUSIONS:Tai might have a impact improving efficiency by increasing BBS reducing rate.
