Increasingly, loneliness is being recognised as a serious problem with detrimental effects on health, well social cohesion and community trust. To effectively tackle this complex issue, clear understanding of the phenomenon its main drivers needed. Over years scientific research loneliness, many potential risk factors have emerged been tested empirically.This narrative review 109 studies provides concise summary empirical evidence for presents an additional section dedicated to COVID-19 pandemic.Given very large number existing studies, emphasis placed recent meta-analyses systematic literature reviews longitudinal studies. Background School closures during the COVID-19 pandemic may have exacerbated students’ loneliness, addictive gaming behaviors, and poor mental health. These health issues confronting young people are of public concern. Objective This study aimed to examine associations between loneliness addiction behaviors among in Hong Kong investigate how familial factors, psychological distress, gender differences moderate these relationships. Methods cross-sectional was conducted June 2020 when schools reopened after 6 months school closures. Participants included 2863 children adolescents primary (Grades 4 6) secondary 7 8) (female participants: 1502/2863, 52.5%). Chi-square tests, one-way analyses variance, independent-samples t tests were performed compare distribution across gender, age, other sociodemographic characteristics. Multinomial logistic regression identify factors that relate excessive or pathological separately, comparison with leisure gaming. Results A total 83.0% (2377/2863) participants played video games pandemic. The prevalence game 20.9% (597/2863) 5.3% (153/2863), respectively. This longitudinal study examined school engagement and burnout profiles among early middle adolescents before during COVID-19, within-class latent change stability in students' socio-emotional skills the profiles. The data were collected fall 2019 2020 from 1381 5th to 6th, 1374 7th 8th grade students. Using repeated measures profile analyses based on we identified five well-being both samples showing structural similarity: normative (53% sample 1; 69% 2), moderate-decreasing (4%; 5%), high-decreasing (17%; 10%), low-increasing (6%;7%) moderate-increasing (20%; 10%) groups. groups with increasing showed simultaneous increase intrapersonal competencies but less changes interpersonal outcomes.

The objective of this study was to examine factors that threatened and protected the wellbeing older adults living in UK during social distancing restrictions due COVID-19 pandemic.Semi-structured telephone or video interviews with 20 aged over 70.
