Abstract Context Urban landscapes present a diverse matrix of structures and habitats containing significant physical behavioural barriers to terrestrial wildlife dispersal. As result, large mammals, with home ranges, may be negatively impacted as are created. However, our understanding these in the context genetic connectivity within urbanising is limited, particularly so for herbivores occupying spaces. Objective We investigated effects landscape composition on differentiation herbivorous macropodid, Eastern grey kangaroo ( Macropus giganteus ), Sunshine Coast region Australia. tested whether gene flow this rapidly environment was best explained by (Isolation-by-Resistance) or geographical distances (Isolation-by-Distance) at multiple spatial scales. Methods simulated ecological succession from n =130), datasets =56) determine magnitude relationships between observed composition. A multiscale design used assess spatio-genetic impacts different Circuit theory methods were simulate successions subsequently infer differentiations. Results Both Isolation-by-Distance Isolation-by-Resistance interpopulation 12 surveyed populations. Genetic primarily vegetation structures, major waterways, roads built infrastructure. Variables scale-dependent, biophysical infrastructures exhibiting most variability across Conclusion Our results suggest that M. populations highly dependent structure landscape, influenced anthropogenic structures. such, emphasis pathways , other required conservation planning preserve under urban pressures. The findings study can inform spatially-guided management decisions long-term strategies mammals growing pressures worldwide.

Abstract The determination of suitable habitats and roadkill hotspots allows for the prioritization areas conservation identification road sections that require appropriate planning development. Understanding factors influence species’ presence those contributing to its road-related fatalities is crucial. This study demonstrates use MaxEnt modeling map potential distribution striped hyaena ( Hyaena ) in Batna province (East Algeria) using occurrence records a set environmental variables. results indicated two primary variables species are shrubland, slope with contribution 37.5 30.2 %, respectively, followed by built-up (12 %) distance roads (7.2 %). may occupy steep terrain shrubland near anthropized areas. Road collisions represent threat species, 28 documented casualties from 2010 2020 Batna. kernel density estimation revealed an important hotspot along national 3 28. represents preliminary step wildlife ecological niche management Algeria.
