Interim analysis is a common methodology in randomised clinical trials but has received less attention studies of diagnostic test accuracy. In such studies, early termination for futility may be beneficial if evidence indicates that unlikely to achieve clinically useful level performance, as measured by the sensitivity and specificity. this paper, we describe relevant practical analytical considerations when planning performing interim accuracy focusing on stopping rules futility. We present an adaptation exact group sequential method testing, with R code provided implementing practice. The illustrated using two simulated data sets from published study point-of-care testing SARS-CoV-2. described paper can used guide decisions suitable highlight areas further methodological development.
