Introduction. Animal models for SARS-CoV-2 infection, reproducing the clinical features of COVID-19 in humans, are important tools studying pathogenesis disease, transmission pathogen and indispensable testing antiviral drugs vaccines. Natural killer (NK) cells play a critical role in virus control. However, it has remained largely unclear whether NK cell mobilization SARS-CoV-2 infections is beneficial or pathologic. To address this deficit, we employed validated experimental depletion non-human primate (NHP) model with Delta variant B.1.617.2 challenge. Viral loads (VL), numbers, activation, proliferation, and functional measures were evaluated blood tissues. In non-depleted (control) animals, infection rapidly induced expansion, increased tissue trafficking associated VL.
