Abstract Recalling positive autobiographical memories has been associated with various psychological outcomes, including enhanced mental well-being and self-efficacy. Given the known impact of stress on cognitive functioning, we investigated how momentary affects repeated recall selected mastery (e.g., overcoming challenges) in a training to enhance During this one-week digital training, participants ( N = 54) were asked memories, assessed their levels, memory vividness, feasibility using Ecological Momentary Assessment. Analyses linear mixed-effects models showed that reported greater difficulty less vividness recalling self-efficacy during moments increased stress, whereas feeling relaxed facilitated vividness. Though who experienced appeared benefit more, did not significantly moderate improvements While replication larger, more diverse sample is indicated, our findings underscore importance considering affect memory-based health interventions. Effects may be particularly pronounced when interventions are applied early stages levels still relatively low, aligning strategy Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions. Our study also highlights potential benefits combining practices relaxation-promoting outcomes.
