These environmental stressors acts via multiple pathways. First, they disrupt the endocrine system by mimicking or blocking sex hormones (Akhigbe et al., 2022). They may also induce oxidative stress upregulating generation of free radicals and suppressing antioxidants (Kumar 2018;Akhigbe 2021), trigger inflammation immune response (Li 2021;Ashonibare 2024b), promote genotoxicity (Choudhuri 2021) Although SARS-CoV-2 remains quite novel, convincing evidences have been provided on its possible link with infertility Hamed, 2020;Adeyemi 2022)

Abstract Background Ureaplasma urealyticum belongs to the class Mollicutes and causes non-gonococcal urethritis, an inflammation of urethra that is linked with impaired semen quality. However, some reports are contradictory, reported effect U. on specific sperm variables not consistent. Thus, this study synthesized findings from published primary data provides a robust reliable inference impact associated mechanisms Methods A systematic search was conducted until 31st May, 2024, Cochrane, Google Scholar, Pubmed. The Population, Exposure, Comparator/Comparison, Outcomes, Study Design (PECOS) model adopted. populations were male in their reproductive ages who infected confirmed positive versus control age-matched non-infected or treated, while outcomes included conventional parameters, seminal fluid leucocyte count, interleukin-6 (IL-6) concentrations, studies either cross-sectional longitudinal. Results When compared control, quantitative analysis demonstrated significantly reduced ejaculate volume (SMD 0.33 [95% CI: 0.15, 0.52] p = 0.0004), concentration 0.47 0.31, 0.64] < 0.00001), total motility 0.73 0.43, 1.02] motile count 0.21 0.17, 0.26] normal morphology 0.88 0.42, 1.35] 0.0002), but increased leukocyte -0.82 -1.61, -0.02] 0.04). Introduction Triclosan is an antibacterial and antifungal compound that frequently found in personal care consumer products, its impact on male reproductive health a growing concern. Despite existing experimental studies demonstrating potential threats to fertility, reports effects human semen quality remains limited inconsistent. Therefore, this study presents systematic review meta-analysis assessing the relationship between triclosan exposure quality. Methods This was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42024524192) adhered PRISMA guidelines. Results The analyzed 562 screened studies, out of which five articles including 1,312 subjects were finally included study. eligible geographically diverse, three from China, one Belgium, Poland. More so, both case-control cross-sectional. revealed significantly reduced sperm concentration (Standard Mean Difference (SMD) −0.42 [95% CI: −0.75, −0.10], P = 0.01) total motility (SMD −1.30 −2.26, −0.34], 0.008). Mechanistic insights animal vitro showed oxidative stress may mediate adverse Discussion first comprehensive evaluation quality, highlighting impair fertility through reductions motility. However, high heterogeneity among underscores need for further high-quality research establish more definitive conclusions regarding health.

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted interest in identifying reliable biomarkers to predict disease severity and guide clinical decisions. Prolactin (PRL), a hormone traditionally associated with lactation, gained attention for its role immune modulation. This study aimed assess PRL as biomarker COVID-19. A prospective cohort of 142 patients moderate severe COVID-19, defined WHO-CPS 5 or 6, was recruited from the University General Hospital Patras. Baseline levels were measured using an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay, serum cytokines, including IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12p70, TNF-α, quantified through flow cytometry. Clinical outcomes, mortality need invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), recorded. Results indicated that significantly higher female (12.95 ng/mL vs. 9.40 ng/mL,
