Introduction: The “postural control system” acts through biomechanical strategies and functional neuromuscular adaptations to maintain body balance under static dynamic conditions. Postural stability weight distribution can be affected by external sensory inputs, such as different visual stimuli. Little information is available about the influence of receptors on stabilometric plantar pressure parameters. aim this study was analyze variability, correlations, changes in these parameters open- (OE) closed-eye (CE) Methods: A total 31 were acquired 20 young healthy adults during baropodometric examination performed bipedal standing both Variability evaluated via coefficient variation, correlation analysis Pearson’s R2, statistical differences Wilcoxon test. Results: High intra-subject repeatability found for all CoP-speed (CV < 40%) OE CE conditions, while CoP-sway area (CoPsa) length surface function (LSF) showed larger variability > 50%). Mean peak pressures at midfoot foot loads least number significant correlations with other whereas arch-index rearfoot largest correlations. limb side significantly most trend LSF lower CoPsa mean right forefoot condition. Discussion: present provides a deeper insight into associations between postural load. Interesting adaptations, particularly respect stimuli, effect dominant side, specific role highlighted.

More males than females play video games and develop problems with gaming. However, little is known regarding how who game on the Internet may differ respect to neural responses gaming cues. Behavioral functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data were recorded from 40 female 68 male gamers. This study included three components including participation in a pre-gaming cue-craving task, 30 min of online post-gaming cue-elicited-craving task. Group differences examined at pre-gaming, post- vs times. Correlations between brain behavioral performance calculated. Gaming-related cues elicited higher cravings subjects. Prior gaming, demonstrated greater activations striatum, orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), inferior frontal bilateral declive. Following subjects medial gyrus middle temporal gyri. In post–pre comparison, thalamic activation did Short-term more craving-related These results suggest mechanisms for why be vulnerable developing disorder.

Measures of handgrip strength can be used to conveniently assess overall muscle capacity. Although stand-alone measures provide robust health information, the clinical meaningfulness determine prevention and treatment options for weakness remains limited because etiology unclear. Moreover, outcomes associated with are wide-ranging. Therefore, disentangling how is conditions that metabolically or neurologically driven may improve our understanding factors linked strength. The purpose this topical review was highlight summarize evidence examining associations certain driven. From perusal literature, we posit considered an umbrella assessment body systems contribute capacity, a panoptic measurement representative status, not specific condition. Recommendations future capacity–related research also provided.

Balance impairment is a major mechanism behind falling along with environmental hazards. Under physiological conditions, ageing leads to progressive decline in balance control per se. Moreover, various neurological disorders further increase the risk of falls by deteriorating specific nervous system functions contributing balance. Over last 15 years, significant advancements technology have provided wearable solutions for evaluation and management postural instability patients disorders. This narrative review aims address topic wireless sensors several disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s multiple sclerosis, stroke, other neurodegenerative acute clinical syndromes. The discusses pathophysiological bases as well traditional innovative instruments currently available assessment. technical perspectives technologies, current challenges field teleneurology, are also examined.

Central pattern generators (CPGs) are generally defined as networks of neurons capable enabling the production central commands, specifically controlling stereotyped, rhythmic motor behaviors. Several CPGs localized in brainstem and spinal cord areas have been shown to underlie expression complex behaviors such deglutition, mastication, respiration, defecation, micturition, ejaculation, locomotion. Their pivotal roles clearly demonstrated although their organization cellular properties remain incompletely characterized. In recent years, insightful findings about made mainly because (1) several complementary animal models were developed; (2) these enabled a wide variety techniques be used and, hence, plethora characteristics discovered; (3) organizations, functions, cell across all species studied thus far found well-preserved phylogenetically. This article aims at providing an overview for non-experts most important on vivo models, vitro preparations from invertebrate vertebrate well primates. Data CPG adaptation, organization, will summarized with special attention paid network locomotion given its advanced level characterization compared some other CPGs. Similarities differences between also highlighted.

Freezing of gait (FOG) is a paroxysmal disorder that often occurs at advanced stages Parkinson's disease (PD). FOG consists abrupt walking interruption and severe difficulty in locomotion with an increased risk falling. Pathophysiological mechanisms underpinning PD are still unclear. However, MRI nuclear medicine studies have gained relevant insights into the pathophysiology PD. Although the manifestation of trauma in body is a phenomenon well-endorsed by clinicians and traumatized individuals, neurobiological underpinnings this remain unclear. The notion somatic sensory processing, which encompasses vestibular somatosensory processing relates to systems concerned with how physical exists space, introduced as major contributor overall regulatory, social-emotional, self-referential functioning. From phylogenetically ontogenetically informed perspective, trauma-related symptomology conceptualized be grounded brainstem-level dysfunction its cascading influences on physiological arousal modulation, affect regulation, higher-order capacities. Lastly, we introduce novel hierarchical model bridging processes limbic neocortical mechanisms regulating an individual’s emotional experience sense relational, agentive self. This provides working framework for neurobiologically assessment treatment conditions from perspective.
