Due to its intricacy and long-term usefulness, traditional medicine continues be practiced in several nations. Among the many medicinal plants found Dhofar region of Oman, aromatic oleo-gum resin generated by Boswellia sacra, commonly referred as frankincense, stands out for medical commercial significance. Resin-carrying ducts are unique members family. sacra Flueck is one 29 species genus (Burseraceae) has long been cultivated gums resins use incense. In addition (60%-80% alcohol soluble), (15%-20% water essential oil (5%-7%), other components, including polysaccharides polymeric compounds, also exist smaller amounts. Physiochemical analyses indicate that made up 42.5% diterpenes, 13.1% monoterpenes, 1% sesquiterpenes. Traditional makes extensive frankincense treatment stomach diseases, Alzheimer's disease, hepatic illnesses. The bioactive chemicals present particularly boswellic acids, plentiful. current review examines various compounds different Boswellia, especially along with their structure.

Chios mastic gum (CMG) is a resin obtained from the Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia tree that grows in Mediterranean. For millennia, it has been renowned for its medicinal properties, but recently, CMG gained attention due to pronounced anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties use oral health, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, risk factors related cardiovascular metabolic diseases. This narrative review seeks briefly overview bioactive constituents examine describe potential as cardiometabolic disease (CMD) phytotherapeutic. The results of clinical trials vivo, vitro, silico studies provide accumulating evidence mechanisms underlying CMG’s impacts on lipid glucose metabolism, hepatic inflammation, oxidative stress, body composition, microbiota. Despite relatively limited with mixed results, they have provided foundation understand strengths, weaknesses, opportunities moving forward may help establish bioactives viable therapeutics CMD.
