The Hammersmith Neonatal (HNNE) and Infant (HINE) Neurological Examinations are increasingly used to evaluate developing neuromotor control in infants at risk for physical disability, but there is no global consensus on score interpretation across the first 6 months after birth. We report scores typically developing, full-term aged 1 month HNNE 2-6 HINE. median HINE consistent with previously published data. These normative data can be aid of from impairment.

This letter discusses the recent study by Mukherjee et al, which identifies a significant prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) among newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in Bihar, India, and underscores pressing need for integrated MASLD management within T2DM care. With 72.3% cohort affected MASLD, implementing routine function tests ultrasound screenings is recommended as standard practice care, especially regions with high rates. The also advocates dietary lifestyle modifications, particularly reduction saturated fats, to slow progression. Patient education on monitoring body mass index waist circumference, coupled integration these metrics into digital health records, could enhance patient involvement support proactive management. Moreover, emphasizes advantages developing region-specific risk model that incorporates local patterns socioeconomic factors. Continued research genetic environmental determinants remains essential advancing our understanding its etiology informing targeted public strategies.

Background Inadequate dietary diversity is a major contributor to undernutrition, and compromises the health of both mothers children. Available evidence demonstrates significant association between maternal child diversity. However, there limited about factors influencing concordance mother-child in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Therefore, we investigated associated with SSA. Methods A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted based on recent Demographic Health Surveys (DHS) data eight African countries. total weighted sample 29,138 pairs within five years preceding survey included. mixed-effect binary logistic regression model employed identify Variable p-value < 0.2 bivariable analysis considered for multivariable analysis. In analysis, Adjusted Odds Ratios (AOR) 95% Confidence Intervals (CI) were reported. The percentage agreement children minimum assessed using kappa statistics. Results SSA 74.48% (95% CI: 73.98, 74.98). higher likelihood significantly who had primary level education (AOR = 1.40, 1.31, 1.53) those divorced or widowed 1.54, 1.29, 1.84). Conversely, lower odds observed among 0.75, 0.66, 0.85), exposed media 0.78, 0.73, 0.83), belonging poorer 0.81, 0.74, 0.88), middle-income 0.82, 0.89), richer 0.80, richest 0.67, 0.83) households. Conclusion findings highlight that sub-Saharan moderate at 74.48%. suggest socio-economic educational disparities. Over the years, high levels of corruption in Sub-Saharan Africa have diverted resources from social welfare, weakened institutional effectiveness, and deepened economic inequalities. This study explores misery index’s effects on inequality welfare 19 African countries, highlighting corruption’s role amplifying these issues. The index, a composite measure inflation unemployment, indicates distress exacerbating poverty inequality, disproportionately affecting lower-income populations. research employs quantile regression System Generalised Method Moments to analyse data 2007 2022, revealing that often undermines reduction efforts, with growth foreign direct investment showing limited without strong frameworks. findings emphasise need for multifaceted policies targeting job creation, control, anti-corruption initiatives foster inclusive mitigate disparity. Introduction Low birth weight (LBW) is an early life adversity associated with various risk factors and metabolic dysfunction throughout life. However, the role of socioeconomic in association between LBW peripubertal health low- middle-income countries (LMICs) remains unclear. This ecological study investigated contributing to its impacts Brazil. Methods Data were collected from Global Health Exchange as summary exposure values (SEVs), which serve a proxy for population prevalence weighted by relative risk. Additionally, information was sourced official Brazilian government resources covering years 1995 2017, resulting total 338 state-year observations applied temporal lagged analyses. First, we tested SEV 1-year reproductive-age (15–49 years) exposures outcome. In second analysis, primary high body mass index (HBMI) 10 later Fixed-effects multivariable linear regression models lags constructed, adjusting covariates. Results The smoking, alcohol, systolic blood pressure, HBMI positively LBW. A diet sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB diet) also associated, but disappeared when GDP per capita access care added model. Regarding repercussions LBW, 1-point increase 1.6-point (95% CI: 0.66 2.55). this after care, indicating their confounding roles. Discussion Our highlights several adult relationship HBMI. Interestingly, found be determinants outcomes result mid-term effects These findings enhance our understanding LMICs need public policies addressing healthcare welfare reduce burden LMICs.
