Abstract Growing up in a high poverty neighborhood is associated with elevated risk for academic challenges and health problems. Here, we take data-driven approach to exploring how measures of children’s environments relate the development their brain structure function community sample children between ages 4 10 years. We constructed exposomes including family socioeconomic status, exposure adversity, geocoded crime, environmental toxins. connected exposome two structural (cortical thickness surface area, n = 170) functional (participation coefficient clustering coefficient, 130). found dense connections within layers sparse layers. Lower income was thinner visual cortex, consistent theory that accelerated detectable early-developing regions. Greater incidence blood lead levels greater segregation default mode network, evidence toxins are deposited into along midline. Our study demonstrates utility multilayer network analysis bridge neural explanatory better understand complexity child development.

The unprecedented increase in life expectancy presents a unique opportunity and the necessity to explore both healthy pathological aspects of ageing. Electroencephalography (EEG) has been widely used identify neuromarkers cognitive ageing due its affordability richness information. However, despite growing volume data methodological advancements, abundance contradictory non-reproducible findings hindered clinical translation. To address these challenges, our study introduces comprehensive workflow expanding on previous EEG studies investigates various static dynamic power connectivity estimates as potential large dataset. We also assess robustness by testing their susceptibility band specification. Finally, we characterise using functionally annotated brain networks improve interpretability multi-modal integration. Our analysis demonstrates effect choices that rather than are not only more sensitive but robust. Consequently, they emerge strong candidates for neuromarkers. Moreover, were able replicate most established ageing, such alpha oscillation slowing, increased beta power, reduced reactivity across multiple bands, decreased delta connectivity. Additionally, when considering individual variations band, clarified is characteristic memory performance highlighting neuromarker approach source reconstruction allowed us provide insights into domain-specific electrophysiological mechanisms underlying HIGHLIGHTS: an open reproducible pipeline with investigate Neuromarkers related neural dynamics Individualised characterises Functional annotation allows cross-modal interpretation findings.

The ability to organize and memorize the unfolding of events over time is a fundamental feature cognition, which develops concurrently with maturation brain. Nonetheless, how temporal processing evolves across lifetime as well links underlying neural substrates remains unclear. Here, we intend retrace main developmental stages brain structure, function, cognition linked emergence timing abilities. This neurodevelopmental perspective aims untangle puzzling trajectory aspects lifetime, paving way novel neuropsychological assessments cognitive rehabilitation strategies. A new aiming processing's throughout lifetime.
