The increasing ubiquity of digital devices in childhood had outpaced the understanding their effects on cognitive development, creating a significant research gap regarding long-term impact. Objective: present narrative overview explored complex relationship between device usage and development childhood. Methods: We conducted comprehensive literature search across multiple databases, including PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web Science, to critically assess domains such as attention, memory, executive functions, problem-solving skills, social cognition. Incorporating over 157 peer-reviewed studies published 2001 2024, we used strict inclusion exclusion criteria ensure scientific rigor. Results: review integrated empirical findings with established theoretical frameworks, particularly from media psychology, highlight both advantages risks early, frequent exposure technology. potential for enhance multitasking information processing, was weighed against overload, diminished attention spans, impaired skills. also examined psychological behavioral outcomes, identity formation, emotional regulation, maladaptive behaviors associated excessive screen time. Additionally, identified strategies mitigate negative effects, emphasizing structured engagement parental involvement support healthy growth. Our provided actionable recommendations parents, educators, policymakers, promoting optimal practices that enhanced while safeguarding harms. Conclusions: offered essential insights stakeholders child education, policy-making, highlighting need balanced integration tools learning environments.

The undergraduate college years are a critical transition period for young adults in establishing life-long health behaviors. Background/Objective: Within the FRESH Study, we aimed to understand relationship between perceived physical health, mental and specific metrics (e.g., activity, food insecurity, sleep quality) among students following COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: First-year (n = 271) from an urban university were recruited three study waves (2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024). Participants answered online surveys on demographics, perceptions, dietary patterns, beverage consumption, stress, quality. Results: Overall, participants rated their better than ('good', 'very good', or 'excellent'; 89.6% vs. 62.2%), even though 30.7% not of 'healthy weight' status, 34.5% did meet activity recommendations, 42.2% consumed some sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs). Students reporting suboptimal ('fair' 'poor') more likely report insecurity (p < 0.001, p 0.010), poor quality 0.012, 0.001), elevated stress 0.001). In addition, fast-food consumption breakfast 0.031), 0.004) showed changes over years. In 2011, the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research established a Measures Registry (updated in 2020) for four key variables associated with childhood obesity. We analyzed individual physical activity behaviors portion of to highlight strengths and gaps reliability validity literature children's adolescents' measures. There were 455 Measurement entries included present analysis. Overall, 212 assessed reliability, most commonly test–retest (70%) or internal consistency (18%), while 342 validity, criterion (89%). The lack reporting socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, rurality, inclusion these individuals studies was concerning, as poorer demonstrated when included. Future validation work should address better diverse populations. Other next steps include devising standardized measurement development procedures assessment tools addition updating registry.
