According to the recent World Health Organization statistics, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of leading causes high mortality worldwide. While obesity a major and persistent risk factor for CVD, cause this condition, pathological molecular connection between peripheral fat depots heart, remains poorly understood. The aim review introduce reader metabolic activity epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), consequences excessive accumulation development heart failure (HF). EAT visceral that in direct contact with myocardium coronary vessels can influence cardiac function through both mechanical effects more subtle paracrine mechanisms. HF preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) closely associated patterns distribution. Excessive amounts are abnormal hemodynamics HFpEF, potential on causing constriction-like effect local myocardial remodeling resulting from secretion inflammatory mediators. However, patients excess tend have subcutaneous tissue, making it difficult determine cause-and-effect relationship HFpEF. This provides evidence an important part HFpEF pathogenesis.
