Biochar, an alkaline material derived from agricultural and forestry waste, can ameliorate soil quality by adjusting pH. However, various types of biochar have distinct effects on pH due to diversity in feedstock type, pyrolysis temperature, application rate. Therefore, a meta-analysis was conducted with 598 paired comparisons obtained 104 published studies (January 2010-July 2022) comprehensively depict the response farmland systems across China. The results showed that adding significantly increased acid soils' Still, its neutral soils varied depending biochar's soil's initial raised 5-10% straw (600-800 °C 400-600 °C, respectively). In soils, other (200-400 °C) pH, while 1-5% reduced it. findings underscore importance divergent consequences systems, both factors should be considered choose optimal type for acid, neutral, soils.

Abstract This study aimed to assess the effect of coffee husk biochar application and Rhizobium inoculation on agronomic traits nutrient availability various faba bean varieties. Four varieties (Local, Dosha, Gebelcho, Numan), four levels (control, strains: FB‐EAR‐15, FB‐1035, EAL‐110), three rates (0, 5, 10 t ha −1 ) were tested acidic soils collected from Gorche Hagere Selam districts. The results revealed that treatments applied significantly affected almost all yield‐related measurements. Inoculating seeds with EAL‐110 strain applying enhanced seed biomass yields per plant by 7% 8%, 9% respectively, compared control. Similarly, post‐harvest soil analysis a substantial change in physicochemical parameters following soil's pH, available P, exchangeable Ca, Mg increased 0.81 mg kg , 4.6 32.1%, 46.2%, respectively. Inoculation resulted significant ( p < 0.05) improvements total N (16.7%) organic carbon (3.1%). Conversely, did not > influence properties availability. Hence, this research has identified as agricultural inputs potential improve fertility, reduce acidity, increase Therefore, planting Dosha Numan outperformed other is recommended for future under farmers’ field conditions.

Straw return and straw-derived biochar are promising practices for improving soil physicochemical properties crop production. However, the integrated effects of a single application on moisture, heat, salinity transport, their regulation mechanism water use efficiency (WUE) in salt-affected soils still understood deeply. Four amendments were used: control without any additives (CK), direct 10 t ha-1 straw (BJ), treatments 15 (B15), 30 (B30). Application generally increased moisture content during whole growth periods. Temperature top cm by 0.97°Cfor B30 1.08°C BJ when averaged two growing seasons. The led to slight reduction pH from 0~30 cm, while did not significantly also 30-cm depth salinity. desalting ratio at maturity decreased slightly first season but second across years. enhanced yield, WUE, net income. These improved more year than year. two-year average WUE profit values BJ. Thus, amendment is recommended improve water-heat environment, income adjusting degree salinization.
