Social competence during adolescence plays a crucial role in socialization and psychological well-being. Available data suggest that social cognition (theory of mind, ToM) self-regulation (behavioral control) abilities make significant contribution to at young age, but research on their is still limited. The purpose the study behavior control ToM adolescents. involved 106 6-8-grade students (girls - 51), aged 12-15 years ( Me = 13, SD 0.87). BRIEF questionnaire was used assess control; assessed using tasks for understanding high-order false beliefs. For external assessment participants, teachers sociometric method were used. groups adolescents, divided by median criterion, compared overall regulation index total score false-belief understanding. most salient differences teachers’ peers’ assessments found between contrasting i.e., with high levels low these abilities. At same time, observed both positive negative but, indices, only ones. considered adolescents be more socially competent, regardless level cognition. peers, behavioral mattered when ability mental states other people weak. results our show importance implementation competent obtained indicate heterogeneity peers teachers.

Background. Self-regulation ability plays an important role in the school success of children — their academic performance and social competence. However, little is known about specific aspects self-regulation contributing to this or that Purpose. The study had its purpose reveal contribution behavior control as a subjective regulatory function progress younger schoolchildren Methods: BRIEF questionnaire assess control, sociometry competence, additionally for teachers teacher's attitude towards child factor can also influence variables under study. Sample. 75 9–10 years old, 34 are girls, students grades 3–4. Results. Regression analysis showed contributes (R2 = 0.341, p 0.022 Russian language; R2 0.425, 0.006 mathematics). teacher’s assessment child’s popularity predicts (β 0.588 language β 0.623 Apart from that, likelihood being accepted by peers 0.260, 0.028). And, additionally, schoolchildren's acceptance predicted performance. Conclusions. revealed significant competence schoolchildren. Further work will be focused on clarifying emotional initiative primary students.
