The use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) to assist college students in their studies has become a trend. However, there is no academic consensus on whether Gen-AI can enhance the achievement students. Using meta-analytic approach, this study aims investigate effectiveness improving and explore effects different moderating variables. A total 28 articles (65 independent studies, 1909 participants) met inclusion criteria for study. results showed that significantly improved students’ with medium effect size (Hedges’s g = 0.533, 95% CI [0.408,0.659], p < .05). There were within-group differences three moderator variables, activity categories, sample size, generated content, when content was text ( 0.554, .05), 21–40 0.776, learning styles 0.600, .05) had most significant improvement student’s achievement. intervention duration, discipline types, assessment tools also moderate positive impact achievement, but any This provides theoretical basis empirical evidence scientific application development educational technology policy.

This study investigates the transformative potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), particularly ChatGPT, in addressing educational challenges faced by Iranian English language teachers (N = 23). Drawing on qualitative data from focus group sessions, semi-structured interviews, and reflective essays, reveals five key themes: accessible learning materials, personalized experiences, ideological influences, overcoming technological barriers, combating isolation global trends. The findings highlight GenAI's capacity to provide diverse up-to-date materials tailored individual learners' needs, address biases, facilitate cross-cultural communication. Moreover, GenAI offers professional development opportunities for teachers, bridging digital divide empowering with levels literacy. By integrating into instruction, can overcome longstanding challenges, foster critical thinking, promote intellectual freedom open-mindedness among students. demonstrates inclusive education providing experiences that accommodate cultural backgrounds needs.

An exploratory analysis of tertiary education GenAI academic integrity policies has been undertaken, to examine provision for international students, having identified as vulnerable bias and challenges associated with these technologies. A qualitative document 131 HE institutions (HEI) across 11 countries reveals mostly scant consideration students' needs, the majority lacking any explicit provision. subsequent SWOT exceptions this generally indicates strengths in acknowledging diverse learner assumptions but weaknesses regarding specificity articulating tailored expectations support. These novel findings suggest students have largely overlooked by HEIs here despite significant economic contributions, reflecting tenets commodification HE. Results also highlight an urgent need address gaps incorporating student voices policy development,. Not addressing issues risks exacerbating frictions, undermining integrity, further disadvantaging group responses GenAI.

Abstract Multimodal generative artificial intelligence is revolutionizing critical domains, including education, healthcare, business, and entertainment. This article presents a comprehensive umbrella review of prominent surveys, reviews, SLRs on advances in AI teaching learning, synthesizing its applications, benefits, challenges, implications. We applied the systematic literature (SLR) protocol PRISMA framework to guide our search methodology screen relevant studies ensure accuracy replicability reduce bias. searched three popular academic databases, namely Scopus, Web Science, Google Scholar, screening 451 candidate articles published between 2020 2024. From these, we identified 46 GenAI reviews education. Our investigation answered five research questions covering disciplines adopting AI, applications large multimodal models their impact student performance, assessment, overarching challenges. Recent trends showed China USA as leading publishers ChatGPT most tool used text primary modality interaction among students teachers. Several explored application multiple instead single domain. Students use tools understand complex notions, learn foreign languages, improve writing skills, prepare for assessments, enhance engagement. However, teachers apply develop course materials, pedagogical methods, design various evaluate learning outcomes, provide personalized feedback. conclude by presenting taxonomy challenges impeding adoption learning. Key issues include dishonesty, negative impacts thinking integration with traditional philosophies, lack emotional platforms.
