Background: Nursing aims to rely on the best evidence, yet nurses frequently struggle with statistics, impeding integration of research into practice. The misuse statistical significance and p values is a pervasive issue, widely debated across disciplines but often overlooked in nursing. Objective: This study seeks elucidate key arguments surrounding values, assess their relevance nursing, propose recommendations for improvement. Approach: Conducting critical literature review interpretation reporting its practical implications among nurses, nursing students, scholars. Results: reveals widespread misunderstandings probability concepts classical leading values. Some scholars abandoning altogether due these challenges. Rather than dismissing this article provides insights historical context proper application. Recommendations are offered accurately interpreting results integrating supplementary metrics. Fostering competencies already at undergraduate level can enhance literacy alleviate statistics anxiety prevalent issue. Early exposure methods education empowers actively engage research. Additional include preregistering analysis plans mitigate publication bias exploring alternative approaches such as Bayesian methods. Conclusions: While serve valuable tool preliminary assessment against randomness research, misunderstanding necessitates multiple measures accurate understanding significance.
