Introduction: The microbiota–gut–brain axis plays an important role in the pathophysiology of autism spectrum disorder, but its specific mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to explore associations changes neurotransmitters and short-chain fatty acids with alterations gut microbiota valproic acid model rats. Methods: rats were established by prenatal exposure (VPA). Morris water maze test, open field three-chamber test conducted assess behaviors 16S rRNA gene sequences extracted from fecal samples used microbial composition. Gas liquid chromatography–mass spectroscopy was identify prefrontal cortex (PFC). Results: results showed that 28 bacterial taxa between control identified, most differential belonged metagenomic species Lactobacillus intestinalis . Acetic acid, butyric valeric isobutyric isovaleric significantly decreased compared those Five (threonine, kynurenine, tryptophan, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic denoted as 5-HIAA, betaine aldehyde chloride, BAC) decreased, whereas increased A variety (≥4) correlated Pseudomonas, Collisella , Streptococcus at genus level, they also related decrease acids. Discussion: According this study, we can preliminarily infer or their metabolic productions (such SCFAs) may influence central neurotransmitter metabolism through pathways gut-brain axis. These provide (SCFA) frameworks for understanding disorder shed new light on treatment.

There is a lot of evidence establishing that nervous system development related to the composition and functions gut microbiome. In addition, central (CNS) controls imbalance intestinal microbiota, constituting bidirectional communication system. At present, various gut-brain crosstalk routes have been described, including immune, endocrine neural circuits via vagal pathway. Several empirical data associated microbiota alterations (dysbiosis) with neuropsychiatric diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, autism Parkinson's other psychological disorders, like anxiety depression. Fecal transplantation (FMT) therapy has shown can transfer behavioral features recipient animals, which provides strong establish causal-effect relationship. Interventions, based on prebiotics, probiotics or synbiotics, demonstrated an important influence neurological disorders by synthesis neuroactive compounds interact regulation inflammatory processes. Further research needed demonstrate dysbiosis psychiatric how microbiota-based interventions may be used potential therapeutic tools.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental that results in altered behavior, social development, and communication patterns. In recent years, autism prevalence has tripled, with 1 44 children now affected. Given traditional diagnosis lengthy, labor-intensive process requires the work of trained physicians, significant attention been given to developing systems automatically detect autism. We toward this goal by analyzing audio data, as prosody abnormalities are signal autism, affected displaying speech idiosyncrasies such echolalia, monotonous intonation, atypical pitch, irregular linguistic stress

The oxytocin receptor (OXTR), encoded by the OXTR gene, is responsible for signal transduction after binding its ligand, oxytocin. Although this signaling primarily involved in controlling maternal behavior, it was demonstrated that also plays a role development of nervous system. Therefore, not surprise both ligand and are modulation behaviors, especially those related to sexual, social, stress-induced activities. As case every regulatory system, any disturbances structures or functions may lead various diseases regulated functions, which include either mental problems (autism, depression, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorders) functioning reproductive organs (endometriosis, uterine adenomyosis, premature birth). Nevertheless, abnormalities connected other diseases, including cancer, cardiac disorders, osteoporosis, obesity. Recent reports indicated changes levels formation aggregates influence course some inherited metabolic such as mucopolysaccharidoses. In review, involvement dysfunctions polymorphisms different summarized discussed. analysis published results led us suggest expression abundance activity specific individual but rather they processes (mostly behavioral changes) might modulate disorders. Moreover, possible explanation discrepancies effects gene methylation on proposed.

Children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or are more prone to gastrointestinal (GI) than the general population. These can significantly affect their health, learning, and development due various factors such as genetics, environment, behavior. The causes of GI in children ASD include gut dysbiosis, immune dysfunction, food sensitivities, digestive enzyme deficiencies, sensory processing differences. Many studies suggest that numerous experience problems, effective management is crucial. Diagnosing typically done through genetic, neurological, functional, behavioral assessments observations, while tests not consistently reliable. Some may increase risk developing exacerbating symptoms. Addressing issues individuals improve overall well-being, leading better behavior, cognitive function, educational abilities. Proper digestion, nutrient absorption, appetite by relieving physical discomfort pain. Alleviating symptoms sleep patterns, energy levels, contribute a sense ultimately quality life for individual improved family dynamics. primary goal interventions nutritional status, reduce symptom severity, promote balanced mood, patient independence.

Despite over two decades of neuroimaging research, a unanimous definition the pattern structural variation associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has yet to be found. One potential impeding issue could sometimes ambiguous use measurements variations in gray matter volume (GMV) or concentration (GMC). In fact, while both can calculated using voxel-based morphometry analysis, these may reflect different underlying pathological mechanisms. We conducted coordinate-based meta-analysis, keeping apart GMV and GMC studies subjects ASD. Results showed distinct non-overlapping patterns for measures. decreases were evident cerebellum, mainly found temporal frontal regions. increases parietal, temporal, brain regions, observed anterior cingulate cortex middle gyrus. Age-stratified analyses suggested that such are dynamic across ASD lifespan. The present findings emphasize importance considering as synergistic indices research.

Stilbenes, with resveratrol attracting most attention, example multi‐target compounds promising therapeutic potential broad array neuropsychiatric and neurological conditions. This review is comprehensive summary current state research on stilbenes several such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorders, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative disorders. We describe discuss results both vitro vivo studies. The majority studies concentrate resveratrol, limited findings exploring other pterostilbene, piceatannol, polydatin, tetrahydroxystilbene glucoside, or synthetic derivatives. Overall, although extensive preclinical show benefits various central nervous system clinical evidence their efficacy largely missing.

Air pollution is a global health concern, with fine particulate matter (PM2.5) constituents posing potential risks to human health, including children's neurodevelopment. Here we investigated associations between exposure during pregnancy and infancy specific traffic-related PM2.5 components Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis. For assessment, estimated related traffic (Barium [Ba] as marker of brake dust Zinc [Zn] tire wear marker, Black Carbon [BC]) oxidative stress (OSP) markers (Hydroxyl Radical [OPOH] formation, Dithiothreitol activity [OPDTT], reactive oxygen species [ROS]) modeled land use regression co-kriging based on an intensive air monitoring campaign. We assigned exposures cohort 444,651 children born in Southern California 2016 2019, among whom 11,466 ASD cases were diagnosed 2018 2022, Odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) obtained logistic for single pollutant mass co-adjusted models, also adjusting sociodemographic characteristics. Among components, found the strongest positive association our Ba (ORper IQR = 1.29, 95 % CI: 1.24, 1.34). This was followed by increased risk all markers; ROS formation 1.22, 1.18, 1.25). linked Hispanic children, but not White while OSP across groups. In neighborhoods lowest socioeconomic status (SES), stronger examined pollutants compared higher SES areas. Our findings suggest that wear-related are associated diagnosis California.
