Adolescence is marked by significant maturation of brain white matter microstructure, with evidence for sex-specific maturational trajectory. Most studies have examined conventional diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) metrics, which lack specificity to the underlying tissue modifications. In this study, we characterized sex-differences in microstructure cross-sectionally using DTI, advanced spectrum (DSI) and kurtosis (DKI), as well tract integrity-Watson (WMTI-W) biophysical model. We also aimed explore effect age biological systems undergoing changes during adolescence, namely pubertal hormones, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA)-axis function, glutathione-redox cycle homeostasis. The results indicate widespread all derived suggesting more females compared males distinct modifications between narrow developmental period. Additionally, three factors explored appeared be associated indices specifically, emphasizing period critical female development sensitivity environmental factors.

Adolescents and children have been deemed more vulnerable to the impacts of air pollution than adults. Every day, almost 93% world's adolescents breathe dirty air, putting their health development in danger. It demonstrates that pregnant women exposed polluted are likely give birth prematurely small, low-birth-weight babies. Air has an impact on neurodevelopment cognitive aptitude, as well risk developing asthma pediatric cancer. Children who high levels may a higher chance chronic diseases such cardiovascular disease later life. One reason especially is they faster adults thus absorb toxins. They also reside closer ground, where some contaminants reach peak concentrations, during period when brains bodies still growing. Numerous studies revealed negative adolescents' health, with particular emphasis physical disorders, respiratory ailments. Furthermore, few found kids poor quality suffer from increased fatigue mental issues both after exposure.Air global concern major public consequences, for youth. In addition short-term impacts, early exposure criterion pollutants be related low weight, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, all which long-term consequences noncommunicable diseases. Given emerging epidemic lowand middle-income countries, vicious cycle rapid urbanization rising pollution, regulatory policies protect should integrated into primary healthcare system's main priorities professionals' educational curricula.
