Abstract Background: A growing number of studies have used implementation science (IS) frameworks, such as RE-AIM, to inform and evaluate the evidence-based cancer prevention services (e.g., screening); however, impact applications is not well understood, including whether use an IS framework can lead reductions in health disparities. The purpose this systematic review explore how frameworks guide adaptations specifically address Methods: This was conducted accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines registered PROSPERO. Searches were Ovid MEDLINE, PubMed, PsycINFO, CINAHL, EMBASE. Search strategies a combination terms related prevention, and/or intervention. All searches between January May 2020. QATSDD tool assess quality included review. Results: total 1,025 titles abstracts screened, 84 deemed eligible full-text screening. After screening, n=27 articles data abstraction synthesis. Of 27 that included, overwhelming majority (n=19, 70.3%) based United States, utilized mixed-methods (n=12, 44.4%), focused only on single site (n=21, 81.5%), took place system (n=18, 66.7%). Approximately half (n=13, 48.2%) post-implementation evaluation. Most notably, one-third (n=9, 33.3%) cancer-related those nine studies, six (66.7%) them Consolidated Framework Implementation Research (CFIR). Other disparities adaptation Diffusion Innovations, Knowledge-To-Action, RE-AIM. at moderate risk bias 70.4%). Conclusion: Across various been implemented, CFIR has dominant application pre-implementation planning studies. It remains be seen if within context interventions reduce outcomes. Abstract In order for a field to prosper and thrive, common language is essential. As often the case when many disciplines numerous organizations converge in development of field, dissemination implementation research still characterized by inconsistent terminology. While “state art” might not be advanced enough resolve all existing inconsistencies terminology, this chapter represents tremendous amount that happened over past 5 years create platforms approaches more consistent, agreed-on across topic areas, stakeholder groups, geographical areas. makes progress toward shared we can expect see higher quality greater contribution science improving public health clinical practice.

Abstract This chapter demonstrates not only the relevance, but also necessity of applying an equity lens to dissemination and implementation (D&I) science advance health equity. There are several challenges promoting in D&I research, including possible inadvertent exacerbation healthcare disparities; lack acknowledgment contexts other underlying structural factors, such as racism; limited use a multilevel, multisector, and/or multisystems approach for evidence-based interventions (EBIs); inadequate equity-relevant metrics methods; inclusion low-resource settings or marginalized populations efficacy, effectiveness, studies. However, established models frameworks (transcreation framework) increased equity-focused emerging (e.g., can help alleviate these challenges. is growing application research multiple areas, cancer screening, obesity prevention, HIV/sexually transmitted infections (STIs), vaccinations, with promising findings reducing disparities. Despite advancements, there much work be done prioritize from considering social determinants study design intentionally involving community partners throughout intervention development process. To truly at population level, must applied enhance EBI effectiveness relevance well strategies implement, sustain, scale EBIs across diverse communities settings.

Abstract There are tangible benefits to the use of theories, models, and frameworks (TMFs) inform dissemination implementation (D&I) research. However, D&I scientists may find it difficult select, adapt, combine, apply a specific TMF their work. Guidance is provided on how select because answering several questions (e.g., research question, scope study) can aid team in selecting TMF. A case study example adapting better address health equity also included since, for nearly all studies, selected will need adaptation. Abstract There are many opportunities to disseminate and implement evidence-based programs policies (EBPPs) through public health community settings support work toward equity justice. This chapter highlights the breadth of these opportunities.
