We present an expanded framework for the use of business analytics in projects. To commonly used descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, we add comparative wherein compare performance systems under different interventions. This provides a conceptual roadmap implementation then demonstrate this using recent operations research literature on healthcare, summarizing papers focusing one these aspects. Next, discuss queue mining as example theory practice illustrative conclude there is room further work by researchers management scientists within projects generally healthcare industry more specifically. argue future should consider both practice, especially projects, where analysis through lens science imperative. provide some thoughts current state analytics.

Exploiting the fact that most arrival processes exhibit cyclic behaviour, we propose a simple procedure for estimating intensity of nonhomogeneous Poisson process. The estimator is super-resolution analogue to Shao (2010) and Lii [J. R. Stat. Soc. Ser. B. Methodol. 73 (2011) 99–122], which sum $p$ sinusoids where amplitude phase each wave are not known need be estimated. This results in an interpretable yet flexible specification suitable use modelling as well high resolution simulations. Our estimation sits between classic periodogram methods atomic/total variation norm thresholding. Through novel window functions point process domain, our approach attains without semidefinite programming. Under conditions, finite sample guarantees can derived procedure. These resolve some open questions expand existing spectral literature.
