This systematic review examines the intersection of systems thinking and learning theory in addressing rural–urban challenges light increasing global urbanization. We explore how different dimensions thinking—ontological (how we understand systems) epistemological think about systems)—align with single-, double-, triple-loop research from 2014 to 2024. Through a rigorous screening process peer-reviewed literature, analyze theoretical frameworks manifest approaches, methodological choices, outcomes. Our findings reveal promising developments persistent gaps current suggest pathways for more integrated frameworks. also highlight need studies that develop knowledge practices support collective joint trajectories towards sustainability cross-sectorial perspective geographies. synthesis contributes discussions on effectively address complex at interface while advancing both understanding practical application.
