Abstract Background Inflammation and nutrition are strongly linked to respiratory diseases, but the link between inflammation nutrition-based indicators chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) its mortality has not been reported. Methods We recruited adults no younger than 20 years old from NHANES 1999–2018. included NAR, PNI, MAR, RAR, HALP, ALI. COPD were assessed through a self-report questionnaire. Participants’ rates determined by association with National Death Index. Results A total of 46,572 individuals collected in this study, including 1,549 patients. RAR positively prevalence COPD. However, PNI HALP negatively In participants COPD, highest quartile NAR (HR = 1.43 [1.04–1.97]), MAR 1.66 [1.23–2.26]), 2.45 [1.90–3.17]) an increased risk all-cause compared lowest quartile. 0.48 [0.38–0.61]) 0.56 [0.44–0.71]) decreased Randomized survival forests (RSF) showed that had strongest predictive power for among all indicators. Conclusion found prognosis patients, having value.

Purpose: Investigate the efficacy of blood microRNAs (miRNAs) as diagnostic biomarkers for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Patients and Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search in English Chinese databases, selecting studies based on predetermined criteria. Diagnostic parameters like summarized sensitivity (SSEN), specificity (SSPE), positive likelihood ratio (SPLR), negative (SNLR), odds (DOR), area under curve (AUC) summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curves were analyzed using bivariate model. Each parameter was accompanied by 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: Eighteen high-quality included. For diagnosing COPD with miRNAs, SSEN 0.83 (95% CI 0.76– 0.89), SSPE 0.76 0.70– 0.82), SPLR 3.50 2.66– 4.60), SNLR 0.22 0.15– 0.33), DOR 15.72 8.58– 28.77), AUC 0.86 0.82– 0.88). In acute exacerbations, 0.85 0.91), 0.80 0.73– 0.86), 4.26 3.05– 5.95), 0.19 0.12– 0.30), 22.29 11.47– 43.33), 0.89 0.86– 0.91). Conclusion: Blood miRNAs demonstrate significant accuracy COPD, both general during suggesting their potential reliable biomarkers. Background: This study provides us an opportunity to discuss about the development of a smartphone enabled Home based Self-management application for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Objective: To summarize baseline characteristics Disease patients recruited in present study. Methods: A single centered prospective non-randomized has been conducted implement self-management among 166 patients. Patients were matched on gender and Global Initiative Lung criteria. Smartphone was provided intervention group instructions given them. Results: The mean age participants 58.02 years which more than half male, 80% married, almost one-third educated up class 10th, 65% have disease duration between 3 8 years, equally distributed Grade 2 two third ex-smokers. St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire score 40.20 39.74, Clinical COPD 3.89 3.86, Assessment Test 23.65 22.74 control respectively. There is no statistically significant difference group. Conclusion: findings provide vital context follow-up results evaluation

The Saudi Thoracic Society (STS) developed an updated evidence-based guideline for diagnosing and managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Arabia. This aims to provide a comprehensive unbiased review of current evidence assessing, diagnosing, treating COPD. While epidemiological data on COPD Arabia are limited, the STS panel believes that prevalence is increasing due rising rates tobacco smoking. key objectives guidelines facilitate accurate diagnosis COPD, identify risk exacerbations, recommendations relieving reducing symptoms stable patients during exacerbations. A unique aspect this its simplified, practical approach classifying into three classes based symptom severity using Assessment Test exacerbations hospitalizations. provides reader with executive summary recommended treatments best available also addresses other major aspects management comorbidities. primarily intended use by internists general practitioners

The intricate relationship between chronic lung diseases and viral infections is a significant concern in respiratory medicine. We explore how pre-existing conditions, including obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, interstitial diseases, influence susceptibility, severity, outcomes of infections. also examine exacerbate accelerate the progression disease by disrupting immune responses triggering inflammatory pathways. By summarizing current evidence, this review highlights bidirectional nature these interactions, where underlying diseasesincrease vulnerability to infections, while turn, worsen clinical course. This underscores importance preventive measures, such as vaccination, early detection, targeted therapies, mitigate adverse patients with conditions. insights provided aim inform strategies that can improve patient management reduce burden exacerbated

Bacterial infection is a significant contributory factor in the pathogenesis of acute exacerbations chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) and it has pivotal role exacerbating symptoms precipitating mortality among patients with (COPD). The early identification bacterial individuals COPD remains challenge. Therefore, present study aimed to create validate risk assessment tool using easily accessible serum biomarkers predict AECOPD. A retrospective cohort was carried out at Pingxiang People's Hospital (Pingxiang, China) from January 2023 December 2023, involving diagnosed total 544 AECOPD were randomly allocated two following groups: training set, which included 70% (n=384) patients, validation 30% (n=160) patients. Subsequently, nomogram model constructed multivariate logistic regression analysis set. Its discriminatory ability calibration internally validated, while decision curve analyses employed assess clinical utility nomogram. incidence hospitalized 50% set 48.1% incorporated independent factors associated infection, including C‑reactive protein, neutrophil elastase, procalcitonin eosinophils, identified by univariate analyses. area under 0.835 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.795‑0.875] 0.785 (95% CI: 0.715‑0.856) demonstrated excellent discrimination [c‑statistic: 0.79 0.68‑0.90)]. Furthermore, overfitting bias assessed through internal validation, revealing C‑index 0.836 for initial group 0.788 subsequent straightforward prediction infections valuable
