Background Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most frequent microvascular consequences diabetes, accounting for a significant portion morbidity and mortality in diabetic patients Africa. This study aims to report on prevalence among with diabetes mellitus Africa risk factors. Methods systematic review was reported using Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) standards, protocol pre-registered PROSPERO registration number CRD42024587467. The search conducted across databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, CINAHL Scopus retrieve studies published between January 2000 August 2024. All statistical analyses were R software (version 4.4.2). pooled calculated 95% confidence interval (CI). Results Thirty-four (34) articles met inclusion criteria. Only 28 incorporated into meta-analysis determine patients. findings indicated 21% (95%, CI: 16-28) Among type 1 2 patients, 46% 18-77, I² = 98%) 20% (95% 14-27, 98%), respectively. Diabetic nephropathy, as a severe microvascular complication of diabetes, manifests in four clinical types: classic, albuminuria regression, rapid decline kidney function (RDKF), and non-proteinuric or non-albuminuric DKD. Rapidly progressive diabetic nephropathy advances to end-stage renal disease more swiftly than the typical form, posing significant risks. However, comprehensive understanding rapidly is currently lacking. This article reviewed latest developments genetic risk factors associated with aiming broad perspectives concerning diagnosis interventions this condition.

Abstract Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a leading cause of end-stage renal disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the association between triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, novel marker reflecting insulin resistance, and risk developing DN T2DM. We conducted comprehensive literature search PubMed, Embase, Web Science databases up May 12, 2024. Studies assessing TyG index relation among T2DM were included. The pooled relative risks (RRs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) calculated using random-effects model. A total eight longitudinal follow-up studies encompassing 15 889 analysis revealed significant higher an increased (RR=1.53, CI: 1.37–1.71, p<0.001; I2=35%). results meta-regression suggested that cutoff was positively associated RR for DN. Subgroup analyses demonstrated stronger ≥9.5 as compared those <9.5 (RR: 1.73 vs. 1.40, p subgroup difference <0.05). not significantly affected by study design, mean age patients, proportion men, or durations.
