Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) represents a chronic inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract with multifactorial etiology that remains incompletely elucidated. Accumulating evidence implicates dysregulation intestinal micro-ecosystem, aberrant neuroimmune interactions, and compromised epithelial barrier integrity as key contributors to IBD pathogenesis. While oral administration predominant therapeutic approach, acidic gastric milieu enzymatic catabolism markedly compromise drug efficacy. Consequently, selecting an optimal delivery method has become pressing issue in management. As platform, hydrogels, distinguished by their favorable biocompatibility, biodegradability, injectability, can shield drugs from harsh environment. This review offers innovative comprehensive analysis interactions among various hydrogel application forms, routes, loaded substances, summarizing advantages different types hydrogels terms anti-inflammatory properties maintenance flora homeostasis, well discussing limitations current deliver systems looking future.
