Meibomitis is an ocular disease which leads to a dysfunction of the meibomian glands. This ophthalmologic may cause severe pain and obvious vision loss. The therapeutic protocol used in treatment this pathology consists local systemic antibiotic therapy. results obtained using approach are scarce and, many cases, result adverse events. In study, we propose alternative original TECAR therapy treatments meibomitis disease. endogenous heat produced by device beneficial effects from both histological anatomical point view. Different parameters (TBUT, interferometry, tear meniscus height, meibography OCTA) were evaluated before treatments, immediately afterwards, 15 days after end treatments. suggest new possible use on ophthalmological patients, opening innovative scenario non-invasive manner.

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a leading cause of dry eye disease, characterized by abnormal meibum production and glandular obstruction, resulting in compromised tear film stability ocular discomfort. This review article aims to provide comprehensive overview the latest developments diagnosis treatment MGD. Diagnostic innovations, including non-invasive imaging techniques, analysis, interferometry, have enhanced our ability detect early-stage MGD assess disease severity more accurately. Newer therapeutic modalities like intense pulsed light therapy, pharmacological agents targeting inflammation function, along with standard measures hot fomentation, eyelid massage shown promising results improving symptoms restoring meibomian health. By summarizing current landscape diagnostics therapeutics, this highlights ongoing efforts refine clinical care enhance patient outcomes prevalent condition.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intense pulsed light (IPL) combined with meibomian gland expression (MGX) for treatment dry eye disease dysfunction associated chronic Stevens–Johnson syndrome toxic epidermal necrolysis. Methods: This prospective noncomparative interventional study included 29 patients (58 eyes) who underwent 3 sessions IPL MGX at 2-week intervals. Subjective symptoms (ocular surface index score) objective tests: matrix metalloproteinase 9, tear meniscus height, bulbar redness score, film lipid layer thickness (LLT), Schirmer I test, conjunctival corneal staining, loss, score [meibomian (MGS)], break-up time were assessed baseline after 4, 8, 12 weeks. Results: Twenty-nine individuals (57 in this analysis. The ocular decreased significantly from 60.07 ± 23.34 (baseline) to 38.36 22.39 (after 90 days) ( P < 0.01). fluorescein lissamine green staining scores, MGS, LLT improved In contrast, there no significant changes height values, 9 positivity, meibography superior inferior eyelids, time. Ocular or skin complications not observed. Conclusions: Three therapy followed by seemed be safe effective treating dysfunction, improving vision-related quality life, symptoms, signs, such as days

The treatment and management of ocular surface diseases have shifted towards a co-treatment approach focusing on overall homeostasis. When treating issues related to the eye, it is essential not only focus damaged or disabled areas but also consider larger picture. Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), Demodex infection, blepharitis all interact at eyelid site can cause damage varying degrees. Palpebral lesions disrupt balance homeostasis, leading dry eye keratitis. Traditional treatments, such as manual physical hot compress massage, limited effectiveness due structure eyelid. However, intense pulsed light (IPL) technology uses penetrating energy generate heat energy, which eliminate inflammation capillaries kill Demodex. Additionally, LipiFlow thermal effect compression provide more vital longer-lasting therapeutic MGD by excluding other primary causes inflammation. Therefore, personalized techniques based photothermal effects may be effective. In future, IPL potentially dismiss immune-inflammation factors causing disease block delivery systemic immune-related diseases.

Purpose To demonstrate that intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) of the upper and lower eyelids with meibomian gland expression (MGX) is effective in improving dry eye disease due to dysfunction (MGD). Methods Patients ocular discomfort (Ocular Surface Disease Index -OSDI- above 13) signs MGD were recruited. All patients underwent OSDI, visual acuity (VA), intraocular pressure, Schirmer test, meibography, non-invasive tear breakup time (NITBUT), slit-lamp examination (corneal conjunctival staining, hyperemia, expressibility, meibum quality), osmolarity lipid layer thickness. IPL was performed Optima (Lumenis Ltd.) following a standardized protocol on both eyes, inferior eyelid MGX. received four sessions separated by two weeks each. Four after, examinations repeated. Results 160 (320 eyes) included, which 108 (67.5%) women mean age 59.2 ± 15.08 (range 20–89). After sessions, VA, osmolarity, thickness, NITBUT, corneal quality, Meiboscore test improved (all, p < 0.027). Changes initial average NITBUT increased severity (according OSDI). Increased pre-treatment staining associated an improvement OSDI 0.040). No adverse events noted. Conclusions The combination MGX safe for treatment MGD. severe present greater improvements.

Purpose: To compare different light-based devices, namely, intense pulsed light (IPL) and IPL with low-level therapy (LLLT), in the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Methods: This was a prospective, observational study that included patients MGD. Group 1 58 eyes treated (eye-light®, Espansione Marketing S.p.A., Bologna, Italy), followed by LLLT (my-mask®, Italy); 2 60 (E>Eye®, E-Swin, Houdan, France); 3 (Thermaeye Plus®, OptiMed, Sydney, Australia). The presence symptoms (Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI)) ocular surface changes were evaluated at baseline, three weeks, six months after treatment. Results: At week three, there an improvement OSDI all groups (p<0.001), without differences among them (p=0.339). lipid layer thickness (LLT) increased Groups similar variation (p=0.144). Patients superior lower LLT baseline had greatest respective parameters (p<0.001). basal tear flow (p=0.012). Corneal staining (CS) significantly decreased (p<0.001) months, compared to further (p=0.007), 1, increase CS (p=0.011). Conclusion: led sustained decrease patients’ symptoms, even months. Different devices seem have beneficial effects. Adding appears additional long-term effect as well positive effects on lacrimal gland.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report the outcomes quantum molecular resonance (QMR) electrotherapy in management refractory pediatric ocular rosacea. Methods: This is a retrospective case series on 3 female patients (ages 12, 15, 14 years) with Two presented corneal stromal neovascularization and punctate epithelial erosions while 1 patient scarring paracentral thinning. After failing conservative management, were treated 4 consecutive QMR sessions intensity set at 5 corresponding average power 12 W, 60 V voltage 200 mA current. Informed consent obtained for off-label use. Patients assessed changes vision, foreign body sensation, tearing, photophobia, redness each visit determine symptomatic improvement. Outcome measures include best-corrected visual acuity, use supplemental therapies (eg topical steroids) symptom relief, extent via serial slitlamp photography, scar remodeling high resolution anterior segment optical coherence tomography. Results: experienced improvement acuity after electrotherapy. Corneal regressed significantly all patients. months post-QMR electrotherapy, evident tomography 2 All able discontinue immunosuppressants remain symptom-free 1.5 years follow-up. Conclusions: promising alternative treatment rosacea childhood puberty, it may potentiate remodeling.
