A recent study by Yang and colleagues highlights importance considering context use, beyond amount use. In their study, children from parents who reported having TV-on during family meals when they were 2 years old showed poorer cognitive development at age 3.5 as compared to those with TV-off meals. This use studying effect screen While et al. discuss distracting effects sensory processing, we propose an alternative - not mutually exclusive interpretation based TV induced deprivation interactions. On a more practical note, this should encourage preserve screen-free time, especially structured time such meals, in order maintain interactions known be critical
