The integrated management of medical waste (MD) is a crucial challenge for public health and the environment, aggravated in recent times by population growth emergence pandemics. In this context, implementation innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents itself promising solution. These technological tools can facilitate identification, classification tracking DMs, thus optimizing their collection, treatment final disposal an efficient sustainable manner. For purpose, it was established to analyze scientific production related applicability Intelligence. Scopus database used during period 2017 - 2024 based on PRISMA 2020 methodology. behavior studies presented 9 nodes representing 116 publications. co-occurrence keywords, five clusters 56 selected keywords were found, which corroborates importance study. However, application emerging combination with comprehensive approaches significantly contribute improve DM management, from adaptive, resilient, inclusive approach.

The management of medical waste (MW) is a critical global challenge, contributing to toxic effects on humans, environmental degradation, and economic burdens. Despite advancements, gaps remain in adopting sustainable disposal practices, with limited bibliometric analysis this field. rising volume MW, exacerbated by health crises, strains existing systems. This study uses 3025 publications from 1975 2024, employing Web Science data specific Boolean operators keywords for efficient searching algorithms. Data visualization were carried out software such as VOSviewer version 1.6.20 Bibliometrix 5.0.0, along custom Python 3.12.3 thesaurus files standardize terminology. results reveal significant rise post-2000, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, China, India, US major contributors. South Korea stands high citation rates. Network identified collaboration patterns, while trend mapping highlighted shift toward practices. evaluation insights revealed clear transition incineration-based methods innovative solutions autoclaving, plasma pyrolysis, advanced oxidation processes, driven concerns regulatory frameworks. underscores implications MW importance analyzing publication trends over time understand ongoing need development, grounded legislative policy framework, which essential advancing practices management.
