Agaves are robust, draught tolerant plants that have been cultivated for their high-strength fibers centuries and they hold great promise as a crop in the face of increasing water scarcity associated with warming planet. Meanwhile, millions women lack access to sanitary products safely manage menstruation particularly low- middle-income countries characterized by dry climate. To address this issue, we show processing route transforms leaves succulent Agave sisalana into highly absorbent retentive (23 g/g) material. The process involves delignification combined mechanical fluffing increase affinity porosity, respectively. This leads material an absorption capacity exceeding those found commercially available such menstrual pads. Finally, carbon footprint usage is comparable common alternatives added benefit it can be carried out at small scales while remaining environmentally sustainable. Abstract Background Studies have proven that lack of access to menstruation products negatively affects school attendance, academic performance, and individual health. Implementing “period policies,” or programs offering free products, are becoming popular in schools, businesses, communities high-income countries. U.S.-based Purdue University announced February 2020 pads tampons would be stocked all women’s gender-neutral restrooms campus buildings. This study aimed capture the experiences menstruators about menstrual impact a university-wide management product policy program. A second purpose was understand how is intertwined with broader socio-cultural menstruator. Methods As part larger study, virtual focus group discussions ( n = 32 across 5 groups) were conducted 2021. Eligible participants student-menstruators attending University. We used thematic analysis techniques for data analysis, allowing constant comparative approach contextualization theme identification. Results Focus revealed vivid menarche experiences, shifting period culture, recollections shame stigma, use various technologies manage menstruation. Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) presents a significant public health challenge for refugee women and girls in Africa. Displaced populations often lack access to menstrual products, adequate Water, Sanitation, (WASH) infrastructure, as well comprehensive education. This scoping review aimed understand the state of MHM, identify key challenges, evaluate existing interventions among Employing Levac et al.'s framework, analysed evidence from databases like CINAHL, Emcare, PubMed, Scopus, Web Science, focusing on studies published between 2014 2024. Sixteen articles met inclusion criteria, both numerical summaries descriptive analyses were conducted. Refugee disposable reusable resorting unhygienic alternatives such clothing, leaves, paper. Inadequate WASH facilities restrict safe private spaces management. Cultural stigma taboos surrounding menstruation contribute social exclusion school absenteeism girls. Yöntem: Derleme niteliğindeki bu çalışma “menstrüel hijyen”, “menstrüasyon”, “sürdürülebilir ürünler” bağlantılı kelimeler açısından elektronik veri tabanlarında (Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science, Cochrane Mendeley) taranmıştır. Bulgular: yıkanabilir bez pedler, regl külodu, yeniden kullanılabilir tamponlar, kap, disk, bambu lifli muz sünger, su sümbülü hijyenik pedler tamponlar kullanılabilmektedir. Sonuç: Mestrüal ped, külotu, tampon, sünger ürünler arasında yer almaktadır.
