Abstract Morphometric analysis using RS and GIS provides a cost time-effective solution for prioritizing soil water conservation practices. Therefore, study was conducted to estimate various linear, areal relief morphological parameters prioritize the erosion-prone areas approach of an ecologically fragile vulnerable Urpash watershed. The morphometric revealed presence 32 streams ranging from 1st 3rd orders, covering total area 21.37 km2. Results like Re, Rf, Rc indicated elongated shape watershed, suggesting lower runoff erosion potential alongside higher sub-soil permeability. Small Dd, Fs, Di values that watershed is at heightened risk experiencing flooding, gully landslides due its inability quickly disperse surface runoff. priority order obtained compound parameter WS3 > WS4 WS5 WS6 WS2 WS1.

The analysis of morphometric parameters plays a crucial role in understanding and managing watersheds, making it fundamental component hydrological investigations. This review paper talks about how important is to objectively evaluate parameters, with focus on the evaluation basins' relief, linear, areal parameters. However, noted that there lack distinct standard classification implication for each parameter some research publications. Furthermore, range categories values have not been adequately addressed previous studies. Many papers state whether particular parameter's resultant value high or low without providing specific ranges associated implications. Also, emphasised accuracy sources digital elevation models (DEMs) affect well works, even when DEMs same resolution are used. existing literature demonstrates determining poses significant challenges. Moreover, verifying first second Horton's laws assessing correlations between lacking articles. main objective this article address these gaps by an in-depth study categorization, including values, level input data quality, products generated, applicability laws. By doing so, aims enhance their ranges, significance application watershed management.

Soil erosion, a major factor contributing to land degradation, poses significant environmental challenges across sub-Saharan Africa, including Ethiopia. This study identifies erosion-prone sub-watersheds in southern Ethiopia's middle Omo-Gibe River basin using digital elevation model data, analyzed geomorphometric and statistically weighted sum priority approach Geographic Information System environment. Additionally, hypsometric analysis, lithology, use/cover field observations were integrated enhance methodological reliability assessing soil erosion patterns subsequent degradation the basin. Results highlight with varying degrees of sensitivity, emphasizing morphometric parameters landscape characteristics. Furthermore, analysis confirms moderate high susceptibility erosion. Moreover, half river consists shrubland, encompassing scrubs, range lands, small wooded areas. These are less efficient mitigating compared forests, especially face summer rainfall ensuing runoff. Statistical prioritization identified 19 sub-watersheds, covering 43% basin's total area, as highly prone degradation. The study's findings valuable for Ethiopian watershed management decision-makers, enabling informed resource allocation targeted interventions control protect water resources by utilizing outputs this study.

The current worldwide effects of soil erosion are a result natural and human activities, it had serious consequences on ecosystems, agriculture, water quality in the watershed. As result, quantifying physical characteristics watershed can be used to identify areas that more susceptible require immediate mitigation measures. This study prioritizes fourteen sub-watersheds Dabus Watershed, Ethiopia using Geographical Information System based variety parameters for implementing short long-term effective management practices. For each sub-watershed (SW), compound parameter was calculated from different morphometric rank areas. findings show SW1, SW7, SW10 contributing very high area with its 2390.75 km2, 2555.77 1642.71 km2 covering area; however, SW2, SW8, SW9, SW14 lowly degraded due is low. Thus, measures such as contouring, terracing, filter strips, other structural/non-structural approaches should implemented where contributed.

ABSTRACT Morphometric analysis plays a crucial role in the effective management of surface as well subsurface water resources. In present study, ASTER DEM and Survey India toposheets were utilized to characterize various morphological aspects Nandhour-Kalish watershed Uttarakhand, India. total, 12 sub-watersheds determined using SWAT 2012 ArcGIS v10.4.1 coded SW1–SW12. For each sub-watershed, 17 morphometric indices estimated Principal Component Analysis determine most influential or criteria parameters context hydro-sedimentological response. The relative influence identified was assessed Criteria Importance for Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) method. developed then prioritized towards prompt implementation soil conservation measures. results indicate that three (SW2, SW3, SW4) categorized under very high class priority, while (SW1, SW5, SW6) indexed priority class. study is an attempt ease out morphometry-based prioritization, which otherwise relatively complex due availability large number input ambiguity concerning parameter selection process prioritization.

Preserving water and soil resources ranks among the top priorities outlined in national strategy. Indeed, integrated management of vulnerable territories, particularly Morocco, requires a deep knowledge hydrological functioning use these regions. The diverse hydroclimatic morphological features within Ouljet Es Soltane watershed, which is sub-basin extensive Oued Sebou present significant challenges managing its resources. Identifying areas susceptible to erosion crucial for implementing preventive measures basin ensuring sustainable development. Morphometric analysis plays an important role effective utilization basin's This study used four MCDM models, including CF (Compound Factor), VIKOR (VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje), TOPSIS (Technique Order Preference by Similarity Ideal Solution), SAW (Simple Additive Weighing), prioritize 20 sub-watersheds watershed. Based on sub-watershed prioritization results obtained from VIKOR, TOPSIS, 16 achieved scores 0, 0.59, 0.8, respectively, positioning it as first rank. These findings highlight that exhibits high susceptibility classified one most terms risk. can be into categories: low, moderate, high, very high. On other hand, model only has two low moderate susceptibility. Overall, suggest morphometric parameters are highly identifying at risk erosion. Furthermore, methods exhibit greater predictive accuracy compared model. comparison models involved Spearman correlation coefficient test (SCCT). this provide valuable insights making informed decisions developing framework control strategies.
