Antimicrobials serve as crucial treatments in both veterinary and human medicine, aiding the control prevention of infectious diseases. However, their misuse or overuse has led to emergence antimicrobial resistance, posing a significant threat public health. This review focuses on extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli animals associated food products, which contribute proliferation antimicrobial-resistant strains. Recent research highlighted presence ESBL-producing E. animal-derived foods, with some studies indicating genetic similarities between these isolates those found infections. underscores urgent need address resistance pressing health issue. More comprehensive are required understand evolving landscape ESBLs develop strategic policies grounded One Health approach, aiming mitigate prevalence effectively.

Background and Aim: The emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Proteus mirabilis in food-producing animals their associated environments is a growing public health concern. indiscriminate use antimicrobials animal husbandry exacerbates resistance development, posing significant threats to food safety sustainability. This study investigates the distribution, antibiotic patterns, virulence-associated genes (VAGs) P. isolated from poultry, livestock, fish, Pakistan under One Health perspective. Materials Methods: A total 225 samples were collected poultry (n = 100), livestock 75), aquatic sources 50) March 2023 September 2024. Standard microbiological methods employed for isolation identification mirabilis. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based detection VAGs was performed using specific primers. Antibiotic susceptibility assessed through disk diffusion method following Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute 2022 guidelines. Statistical analyses, including analysis variance correlation models, applied assess relationships between variables. Results: detected 28.44% (64/225) samples, with highest occurrence observed (38%), followed by (22.67%) (18%). Resistance ampicillin (100%), chloramphenicol (82%), cefepime (75%), ciprofloxacin (75%) widespread. PCR revealed high extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing carrying blaCTX-M (49%), blaOXA (54%), blaTEM (25.67%) genes. In addition, such as zapA (39.53%), ucaA (34.88%), hpmA (32.55%) frequently identified. presence MDR fish related (18%) alarming, highlighting potential zoonotic foodborne transmission risks. Conclusion: underscores widespread distribution animal-based sources, raising concerns regarding antimicrobial resistance. findings reinforce need stringent monitoring regulatory policies mitigate bacterial dissemination across supply chain. Future research should employ metagenomic approaches comprehensive surveillance risk assessment. Keywords: animal-derived foods, resistance, mirabilis, Health, virulence
