Abstract Although the pesticide hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) and its isomers have long been banned, their presence in environment is still reported worldwide. In this study, we investigated bioaccumulation potential of α, β, δ black alder saplings (Alnus glutinosa) to assess environmental impact. Each isomer, at a concentration 50 mg/kg, was individually mixed with soil, triplicate setups, including control without HCH, were monitored for three months access water. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry revealed highest concentrations HCH roots, decreasing towards branches leaves, δ-HCH exhibiting uptake (roots—14.7 µg/g, trunk—7.2 branches—1.53 leaves—1.88 µg/g). Interestingly, α-HCH detected high β-HCH polluted soil. Phytohormone analysis indicated altered cytokinin, jasmonate, abscisate, gibberellin levels A. glutinosa response contamination. addition, amplicon 16S rRNA sequencing used study rhizosphere soil microbial community. While populations generally similar all isomer samples, Pseudomonas spp. decreased across HCH-amended Tomentella dominated samples but lowest samples.
