Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most lethal oral malignant tumor, however, clinical outcomes remain unsatisfactory. The Hedgehog/Gli2 pathway plays a pivotal role in tumor progression, yet regulatory mechanism governing its involvement evolution process of OSCC remains elusive.

The Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is a sort of unique tumour due to its combined peculiar histological features and clinical behaviour, such as the constant binary involvement epithelium stroma, virtual absence metastases predilection specific anatomical sites for both onset spread. A potential correlation between BCC dysembryogenetic process has long been hypothesised. selective investigation PubMed-indexed publications supporting this theory retrieved 64 selected articles published 1901 2024. From our analysis literature review, five main research domains on pathogenesis were identified: (1) topographic distribution macroscopic embryology, (2) microscopic (3) genetic BCC, (4) hair follicle (5) molecular embryology with focus Hedgehog signalling pathway. large amount data from consistently supports hypothesis BCC. Such evidence promoting advances in management disease, innovative targeted therapies an immune modulating basis being developed.
