Background Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the most common form of dementia, is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that predominantly affects elderly population. Traditional assessment methods, including neuropsychological tests like MMSE, have been cornerstone AD diagnosis for decades. These methods are grounded in wealth research and clinical experience, providing robust framework understanding cognitive deficits AD. The evolution rehabilitation has recently tackled with introduction Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. Objectives To evaluate use storytelling reminiscence therapy virtual reality programs as complementary enhancing modality alongside standard patients. explore how regular interaction VR narratives can slow decline or improve relevant features functioning over time. propose new rehabilitative tool based on digital storytelling. Method A comparative analysis Standard Neuropsychological Approaches Interventions patients Alzheimer was carried out. literature overview empirical studies between 2019 2024 conducted. Results We VR-based setup mediated by recovery Conclusion employment within positively impact both emotional realms patients, beneficial outcomes caregivers’ families’ burden. successful implementation this approach requires careful consideration accessibility, data interpretation, validation protocols.

Abstract Background Aging in older adults results a decline physical function and quality of daily life. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exercise frequency among decreased, further contributing frailty. Traditional rehabilitation using repetitive movements tends not attract perform independently. Objective Intelligent Rehabilitation Exergame System (IRES), novel retro interactive exergame that incorporates real-time surface electromyography, was developed evaluated. Methods Frail were invited use IRES for lower limb training twice per week 4 weeks. Participants required have no mobility or communication difficulties be willing complete 4-week study. The enrolled cohort had baseline scores ranging from 1 5 on Clinical Frailty Scale, as described by Rockwood et al. Three major (knee extension, plantar flexion, dorsiflexion) performed 20 times each leg within 30 minutes. electromyography collected analyzed muscle potential signals review health care professionals customize protocol next training. Usability Scale (SUS) Taiwanese version EuroQol-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) administered after completing first (week 1, baseline) last 4, one-month follow-up) evaluate usability its effects life participants. Results A total 49 frail (mean age 74.6 years) included analysis. improved according mean SUS score, 82.09 (good) at 87.14 (good+) 1-month follow-up. willingness ( t 96 =−4.51; P <.001), learnability =−4.83; confidence =−2.27; =.02) working with increased. After month, significant improvements observed ease 47 =2.05; =.04) =2.68; <.001) participants without previous experience. No sex-based differences found life, assessed EQ-5D, significantly month compared =6.03; <.001). Conclusions proposed this study received positive feedback adults. Integrating retro-style into only their motivation but also increased learning, system operability, continue rehabilitation. provides an essential tool new eHealth service post–COVID-19 era.

Reminiscence has been found to be an effective therapy for older adults and researchers practitioners have identified a range of benefits, from cognitive stimulation the reconciliation past experiences. In this qualitative study, authors explore experiences engaged in technology-enhanced form reminiscence (RT) using three-dimensional (3D) printed objects peoples’ past. Content analysis individual interviews with seven participants ( n = 7) revealed three themes: (1) positive RT intervention; (2) reflections on use 3D objects; (3) development relationships between researchers. These findings suggest that can effective, but only if are accurate it suits participants’ personalities. Researchers may find enhance their interventions thereby enrich lives adults.
