Introduction: This article addresses university governance as a key element in the management of higher education institutions 21st century. The objective is to analyze paradigm institutional through multidimensional methodology. Specifically, study aimed evaluate dimensions and variables such academic autonomy, social responsibility, digitalization, sustainability.Methods: qualitative methodology bibliographic review sources indexed Scopus, Web Science, SciELO, Redalyc databases allowed for comparison critique studies on subject from Latin America Europe within period 2010 2024.Results: findings suggest that successful compatible with autonomy under transparency, performance accountability, responsibility. Digitalization sustainability are considered mechanisms promote equal quality access education, particularly regarding data protection policies user equity.Conclusions: Ultimately, effective century integrated into dynamic, evolving, adaptive approaches technological transformation. results this research assist policymakers sector formulating public strategies strengthen mission’s core structure, ensuring actors serve fundamental agents alongside building promoting equitable sustainable societies.
