Access to Justice for Immigrant Women Facing Domestic Violence in Sweden

Victimized

multifaceted
barriers
when
seeking
justice
for
intimate
partner
violence.
Utilizing
management
from
below
as
a
methodological
approach,
this
study
adapts
two-fold
model
of
challenges
these
face
pursuit
justice.
While
action-based
challenges,
such
lack
legal
awareness
and
access
to
language,
isolation,
insecure
residency,
integration
impede
reporting
incidents
domestic
violence
the
police;
process-based
obstacles,
including
difficulties
proving
navigating
proceedings
trust
authorities
hinder
victimized
even
after
they
have
reported
their
cases.
As
result,
majority
abandon
cases

findings
also
underscore
importance
employing
bottom-up
approach
understand

victims
