Evaluating Research Trends and Gaps in Disaster Literacy within Science Education: A Bibliometric Perspective DOI

Purpose of the study: This study aims to evaluate research trends, gaps, and global patterns in disaster literacy within science education identify areas for improvement provide actionable recommendations enhancing strategies disaster-prone regions. Methodology: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using data from Scopus database (2000-2024). Tools used include R Studio with Bibliometrix package generating visualizations such as co-occurrence networks, word clouds, trend analyses. The dataset comprises 315 articles selected “disaster literacy” "science education". Main Findings: Findings indicate an increasing focus on research, eminent themes technology integration project-based learning. However, significant gaps remain contributions developing nations long-term evaluation programs. Collaborative international has been identified a growing trend. Novelty/Originality this uniquely combines evaluative approach highlight disparities propose improving curriculum collaboration. It advances understanding by identifying underexplored providing foundation targeted educational interventions.

Trust in government has emerged as one of the strongest predictors national performance fighting COVID-19. This commentary aims to take stock vast literature on trust and compliance with public health measures that during pandemic synthesize policy-relevant recommendations about: 1) How conceptualize trust; 2) Whether is always deserved; 3) governments can earn (appropriate levels of) trust. Based a critical reading literature, we develop framework conceptualizes falling along continuum ranging from extreme distrust blind ideal point— "informed" or "basic" trust—falling mid-point continuum. We illustrate examples provide regarding how build more nuanced disease responses account for individuals sub-groups at different rungs while (re)building conclude trust-building long-term project must continue non-crisis times.
