Excessive dependence on chemical fertilizers and ignorance to organic microbial inputs under intensive cropping systems are the basic components of contemporary agriculture, which evolves several sustainability issues, such as degraded soil health sub-optimal crop productivity. This scenario urges for integrated nutrient management approaches, microbes-mediated plant nutrition curtailing high doses fertilizers. Rationally, experiment has been conducted in pigeonpea at ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, with aim identifying appropriate technique involving sources improved rhizo-modulation, productivity, bio-fertility. The randomized block-designed consisted nine treatments viz. Control, Recommended dose (RDF), RDF+ Microbial inoculants (MI), Vermicompost (VC), Farm Yard Manure (FYM), Leaf Compost (LC), VC + MI, FYM LC MI. Rhizobium spp., Pseudomonas Bacillus Frateuria aurantia were used seed-inoculating microbes. results indicated significant response integration following trend MI > RDF various shoot-root growth attributes enzymatic properties. significantly water-stable aggregates (22%), mean weight diameter (1.13 mm), geometric (0.93 carbon (SOC), SOC stock, sequestration. properties available N, P, K study summarizes that could result better physico-chemical biological development; however; improve nutrients may enhance more effectively. outcomes postulated a viable alternative solution excessive fertilizer-based would also promote consortia manures-based agro-industries. add goal sustainable agricultural development by producing quality produce, maintaining agro-biodiversity making soils fertile healthy be "gift society."

Soil degradation is a global menace to agricultural crop production. Since loss of soil organic carbon (SOC) significant characteristic and since SOC underpins nearly all critical functions, broad range C-rich amendments (CRAs) have been applied avoid degradation. However, little information available regarding how various CRAs influence overall quality. Here, we conducted experimental trials under field conditions simultaneously at two sites (Beijing Ningxia; the nutrient-holding capacity was much higher in Beijing than Ningxia soil) over consecutive years, investigate effects (i.e. straw-C, composted humic acid-C) on quality tomato yields. The expressed by index (SQI) covering wide physical, chemical microbial properties. In general, straw-C addition enhanced SQI mainly site through increasing water content plant beneficial bacterium Myxococcota, decreasing pH (alleviating alkalization). Composted increased primarily enhancing porosity, nutrient availability Firmicutes, reducing pH, harsh environment-adapted bacteria Methylomirabilota Gemmatimonadota, fungal pathogen Basidiomycota. acid-C had no effect any site. showed positive correlation with either root biomass or yields both sites. Together, our results demonstrate that an effective method for productivity soils having high (Beijing), while low (Ningxia).
