The main objective of this article is to find out the Russian universities’ motives for developing and placing exponential massive open online courses (xMOOCs) on educational platforms. study shows that in such decisions universities are motivated not only by direct profit from their implementation, but also other reasons, which can be divided into two groups: 1) encouraging use university development opportunities 2) aiming overcome deficiencies shortages university’s activities. majority motives, as “online programs promotion additional further professional education”, “the overall brand promotion”, higher education focused opportunities, one (“teachers’ qualifications improvement”) aimed at overcoming deficiencies.

Informatization of various aspects social life and digitalization economic sectors changed the content activities many institutions. This touched upon problem interactions in modern higher education. Practical actions aspect education require reflection for their effective regulation. The purpose article is to determine factors influencing implementation main institutional functions through teachers students context (in particular, during transition distance learning). discusses theoretical approaches understanding processes, which are complemented by well-known studying essence interactions. Systemic were used. analysis features using digital technologies supplemented a secondary sociological research on problems system, introduction learning at universities, results survey Penza State University (April–May 2020). describes experience leading universities use artificial intelligence, big data analytics work neural networks university activities. On basis conducted analysis, it was concluded that function knowledge transfer system quite successfully performed new conditions. possibilities communications with management structures influenced technological, educational, organizational communication factors. Under influence, professional general cultural competencies graduates will be formed, prerequisites them occupy statuses after graduation.

Introduction. The article is devoted to the problem of institutional boundaries blurring triggered by disintegration traditional institutions, emergence new educational formats. aim institutionally analyse international experience in adult education, explore and forms, identify key vectors change.
