Abstract Aims and Background The growing human population scarcity of new arable land necessitate exploring contaminated lands for agriculture production. Intercropping, a strategic method involving different plant species to enhance biomass, soil health phytoremediation, thus promoting sustainable agricultural practices on lands. Therefore, the selection suitable intercropping systems is great interest agriculture. Methods This research focused phytoremediation potential rapeseed kenaf in cadmium-contaminated soil, evaluating their performance both monoculture system. Additionally, it examined growth, morphological, physicochemical responses plants. Results results revealed that these two significantly enhanced biomass production, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic efficiency compared monocultures. Antioxidant enzyme activities plants were elevated under intercropping, reducing oxidative stress markers such as malondialdehyde (MDA) superoxide anion (O2). Intercropping increased Cd accumulation shoots roots rapeseed, correlating with decrease pH an increase available content soil. Both showed metal phytostabilization, BCF > 1 TF < intercropping. It also found activity enzymes, urease catalase while sucrase activity, indicating improved microbial activity. Conclusion These findings suggest not only improves growth uptake but promotes better resilience stress, offering approach soils.

Gut microbes of Tenebrio molitor larvae are crucial in plastic degradation. However, microbial responses to the feeding remains unclear. This study aimed analyze changes community and function PE PS. It found that after 72 h, survival rate was 92.2% 82.2% weight loss (consumption rate) 8.8% (0.44 g, p < 0.01) 6.9% (0.09 g) for PS PE, respectively. More interestingly, structure relative happened 6 h. CO C–O stretching, hydrogen bonding, a significant decrease [Mn] (p 0.05) [MW] 0.001) were found; Furthermore, time-similar diversity obviously clustered composition significantly changed. The dominant phylum Firmicutes Proteobacteria. At genus level, PS-degrading taxa unclassified Enterobacteriaceae, Acinetobacter Sediminibacterium, Delftia samples; Additionally, difference carbohydrate metabolism found, degrading gene S-formyl glutathione hydrolase high-expressed (PS-3500 fold PE-5 fold); Moreover, pathways, such as styrene, benzoate, ethylbenzene xylene degradation pathways identified. Those illustrated occurred just within h chemistry determined its' degradability.
